HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 61-BAN ORDINANCE Entitled an Ordinance creating the office of Harbor Master of the Fort of Beaumont , Texans, provid- ing for his appointment, tenure of ofifios, compensa- tion and duties; providing for the appointment of one. or more assistants; prescribing the tonure of office, compensation and duties of staid aseletant or aasistatts; providing for penalties for arq person interfering with said harbor master or his assistants and providing pen- alties for any person failing to pay any of the fees pro- vided by law to be paid for services furnished at the Port of Beaumont', ,Texas; and, declaring an emergency. ..BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHE THE CITY OF BEATIMONT : Section 1. The office of Harbor Master of B94aumont , Texas . is hereby created. He shall be nominated by. the Mayor, �e.eommendat ion ,of -the--:char-f•-and = Do ckCommss ops, and confirmed by the City Council, and shall hold office until. discharged therefrom ,b'y ,the `City Council provided that a majority of the: City Council shall vote f6V his lismissal or discharge. The person .appointed to fill said position, shall be well versed"in the duties of,said office. Section 2. The Harbor Master of the Port of'B eaumont shall perform such duties as may be imposed upon him from .time to time by. the City Council among which shall be the following: (a) He shall exere.lee a comitant iwpeation. and supervision of the condition of all nb*4L#, river aAI. wherf property, and report in xritirig to the Superintendent of the Port of Beaumont or if thereis no'sueh Superintendent, shall report in writing to the Wharf and Doak Commission such .re- pairs and improvements he may -deem necessary ,and proper for FILED T IS TSL2��Ai OU �•UTTON, P, IW• the safety and: preservation .,thereof. And any person so failing or refusing to pay the charges for services at the Port of Beaumont as provided by law, shall be deemed guilty' f a misdemeanor and upon co-nvietion: in, the Corporation: Court, :shall be fined 'in any sum not' less than One ($1.00) Dollar, nor more than-Two',Hundred ($200.00) Dollars.
