Providing for the levying,- assessing and collecting -of
taxes for the year 1915, for"the purpose of -providing a sinking
fund to"meet "the - payment- of bonded indebtednesg of the city of
Beaumorit,,and for -the accruing interest thereon; providing for
the support -of the public schools of the city; to repair and
improve the streets,.alleys;.and public squares; to meet.the
current, -expenses of the .,city of Beaumont-; to provide for the
purchasing; construct -ing',-maintaining, operating and--owning-the
public" parks; to .provide a sinking fund t.6,meet the payment of the
bonded indebtedness 'of the -water works system, and of the accruing
interest thereon; to tax occupations and callings made taxable by
the State of Texas, and to collect on all able bodied male citizens,
over twenty-one and under sixty years of age, a poll tax.
BE IT. ORDAINED BY THE .CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:

Section l..
That.there is hereby.levied and shall: be assessed and col-
lected for the year 19151 -the following taxes on all property situated
within" the corporate limits of the..city of -Beaumont,. Texas, made
taxable by law, to -wit;.'
For the, purpose of -paying general 'current expenses. of the
city government, and -for general :purposes, thirty-four (34) cents
on each one hundred (0100.00) dollars valuation.
For- the support and- maintenance of -public free schools,
twenty-five (25) cents on each one hundred,,($100.00) dollars
valuation.
For the purpose of repairing and maintaining the streets,
alleys, public squares and bridges of the city, thirty (30) cents "
on each -one hundred (100.00) dollars valuation.
For the purpose of paying the accruing interest, and to
provide' a sinking fiend for the payment of the bonded indebtedness
of the city, forty-five and one half (452) cents on each one
hundred (100.00) dollars valuation.
For the purchasing, constructing, maintenance and operating
of public parks,' . either- inside or outside .of the city of -Beaumont,
three (3) cents on each -one hundred ($p100..00) dollars valuation.
For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide
a sinking fund for.the payment of the bonded indebtedness of the
water works s u
stem, eighteen and one half -(182) cents on each
one hundred (100'.00) dollars valuation;
Section 2.
That there is hereby levied and shall be collected on all
occupations and callings on which an occupation tax is -levied
by the -State of Texas, a sum equal to one half the amount so
levied - by the State of Texas, on each respective occupation or
calling,
Section 3.
That there is hereby 1'evied and shall be collected a poll
tax one ($100) dollar from each and every able bodied male
citiz n of this city between the ages of 21 and 60 years, excepting
and exempting herefrom those who may be exempt from -the payment of
such tax by -he constitution and.laws of the State of Texas.
Section 4.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in 'full force from and.
after its passage and lawful publication..
Passed this the 4th day of May, A.D., 1915.
