HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 77-101ORDINANCE NO. �71' I�l ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING a-1APTER 12, SECTIONS 12-19 AND 12-20 ESTABLISHING POSITIONS AND PAY GRADES IN THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: That Chapter 12, Section 12-191 be and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows: Section 12-19 - Grades and Classifications in the Police Department All positions in the Police Department of the 8 City of Beaumont, Texas, are hereby classified into the following grades. Each grade having duties of substantially similar authority, importance and responsibility: (1) Grade I. There shall be 118 positions in Grade I, said positions.to include patrolmen. The base pay of every officer who has been in this grade less than one (1) year shall be $930.00 per month; the base pay of every officer in this grade with one (1) or more years of service but less than three (3) years of service shall be $1,035.00 per month; the base pay of every officer in this grade with three (3) or more years of service but less than five (5) years of service shall be $1,085..00 per month and the base pay of every officer in this grade with five (5) or .more years of service shall be $1,125.00 per month. (2) Grade II. There shall be 53 positions in Grade II, said positions to include sergeants and detectives. The base pay of every officer who has been in this grade less than five (5) years shall be $1,205.00 per month; and the base pay of every officer in this grade with more than five (5) years service shall be $1,235.00 per month. I (3) Grade III. There shall be 10 positions in Grade III, said positions to include police lieutenants. The base pay of every officer in this grade shall be $1,355.00 per month.. (4) Grade IV. There shall be 9 positions in Grade IV and the base pay of every.officer in this grade shall be $1,495.00 per month. (5) Grade V. There shall be three (3) positions in this grade and the base pay for every officer in this grade shall be $1,640.00 per month. (6) Grade VI. There shall be one_position in Grade VI..and the base pay of the officer shall be $1,750.00 per month. That Chapter 12, Section 12-20 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 12-20 - Grades and Classifications in the Fire Department. All positions in the Fire Department of the City of Beaumont, Texas, are hereby classified into the following grades; each grade having duties of sub- stantially similar authority, importance and respon- sibility: (1) Grade I. There shall be 96 positions in Grade I, said positions to include Firefighters. The base pay of every firefighter who has been-, in this grade less than six (6) months shall be $930.00 per month; the base pay of everyfirefighter in this grade with six (6) months or more service but less than one(1) year of service shall be $977.00 per month; the base pay of every firefighter in this grade with one (1) or more years of service but less than three (3) years of service shall be $1,016.00 per month; the base pay of every firefighter in this grade with three (3) .or more years of service but less than five (5) years of service shall be $1,072.00 per month; the base.pay of every officer in this grade with five (5) or more years service shall be $1,100.00 per month. (2) Grade II. There shall be 59 positions in Grade II, said positions to include Fire Prevention Investigator I and Fire Engineers. The base pay of "every fireman in this grade with less than five (5) years service shall be $1,.185.00 per month. The base pay of every fireman in this grade with five'(5) years or more of service shall be $1,214.00 per month. (3) Grade III. There shall be 42 positions in Grade III, said positions to include Assistant Fire Marshals, Fire Captains and Fire Prevention Investigators II. The base pay of.every fireman in this grade with less than five (5) years of service shall.be $1,298.00 per month; and the,base pay of every fireman in this grade with five (5) years.or more service shall be $1,355.00 per month. (4) Grade IV. 'There shall be 12 positions in Grade IV, said positions to include District Chiefs, Fire Marshals, Fire Dispatch.Supervisors and Chief Training Officers. The base pay of every officer in this grade with less than five (5) years service shall be $1,440.00 per month; the base pay of every fireman in this grade with five (5) years or more service shall be $1,495.00 per month. (5) Grade V. There shall be three (3) positions in Grade V, said positions to include Deputy Chiefs. The base pay of every fireman in this grade with. less than five (5) years service shall be $1,580.00 per month; the base pay of every fireman in this -3- I , t r grade with five (5) years or more service shall be $1,637.00 per month. (6) Grade VI.. There shall be one (1) position in Grade VI, said position being Assistant Fire Chief. The base pay of the fireman in this grade shall be $1,749.00 per month. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be.invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.` All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
