ORDINANCE NO.��
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS, TO INCREASE THE HOTEL -
MOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX FROM THREE PERCENT (3%)
TO FOUR PERCENT (4%) ; PROVIDING FOR SEV-
ERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL AND PRO-
VIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That Chapter 34, Section 34-41(a) is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Section 34-41(a) - There is hereby levied a tax upon the
cost of occupancy of any room or space fur-
nished by any hotel where such cost of oc-
cupancy is at the rate of $2.00 or more
each day, such tax to be equal to four
percent (4%) of the consideration paid by
the occupant of such room to such hotel.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular
set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be
invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining por-
tions of this ordinance,.and to such end the various portions and
providions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
Section 4.
This ordinance shall .be effective from and . after
September 1, 1977.
