ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE ISSUANCE
OF BUILDING PERMITS OTHER THAN FOR USES AIMM
IN AN R-1 ZONE IN AN AREA AS HEREINAFTER -DE-
SCRIBED FOR A PERIOD OF NINETY (90) DAYS, OR
UNTIL REZONING IS APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL;
AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of The City of Beaumont desires to cwnv ence
a rezoning study of an area of land within the city limits, said area being
more fully hereinafter -described, and for this purpose does hereby formally
request the Planning Division to commence such study; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to maintain the status quo of said
area hereinafter -described for a ninety (90) day period to allow for the com-
pletion of this study by the imposition of a prohibition on the issuance of
building permits for uses other than those allowed in an R-1 zone; NOW, THERE-
FORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:

THAT there is hereby imposed a prohibition on the issuance of building
permits for uses other than those allowed in an R-1 zone, as said uses are de-
fined in the Code of Ordinances of The City of Beaumont in the area of The City
of Beaumont described hereinafter:
BEGINNING .at the intersection of the center-
line of Eleventh Street with the centerline
of Corley Street for a PLACE OF BEGINNING;
THENCE, South along the centerline of Ele-
venth Street to its intersection with a cen-
terline of Washington Boulevard;, -
THENCE, in a generally westerly direction
with the centerline of Washington Boulevard
to its intersection with the Eastern boun-
dary of IH 10;
THENCE, in a generally northerly direction with
the Eastern boundary of IH 10 to its intersec-
tion with the centerline of Corley Street;
THENCE, in an Easterly direction with the cen-
terline of Corley Street to the PLACE OF BE-
GINNING.
This prohibition shall be for a period of ninety (90) days from and

after the passage of this ordinance, or until a rezoning of the area defined
herein is approved by the City Council, whichever is earlier in time.
THAT all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
THAT if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of persons or cir-
cumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall
in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance and to such end the
provisions of this ordinance are declared_to be severable.
