HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 77-56ORDINANCE NO. %7 � ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A PART.OF THE AREA LOCATED IN THE EXTRA- TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AS AN INDUSTRIAL.DISTRICT AS AUTHORIZED BY THE MUNICIPAL -ANN EXATION ACT: PROVIDING THE PURPOSE.OF_SUCH DIS- TRICT: AND..PROVIDING THAT SUCH DISTRICT SHALL BE KNOWN AS_THE."CITY OF BEAUMONT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT NO. 12". WHEREAS, the "Municipal Annexation Act", Article 970a, Vernons R Texas Civil Statutes, authorizes a city to designate any part of the area located in its extraterritorial jurisdiction as an industrial district and to contract with the owners of land in such district guaranteeing the extra- territorial status of such district; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Beaumont to designate the hereinafter described area an industrial district; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: 1. That the area described in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and made a part hereof, located within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Beaumont is hereby designated and established as an industrial district of the City of Beaumont. 2. It is hereby declared to be the purpose of the City of Beaumont to treat with such area from time to time as the City Council of the City of Beaumont may deem to be in the best interest of the City of Beaumont and to contract with the owners of land in such industrial district guaranteeing the continuation of the extraterritorial status of such dis- trict for a period of time not to exceed seven (7) years. 3• The industrial district created and established by this ordinance, and described herein, shall be known as the "City of Beaumont Industrial District No. 12". 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an industrial district agreement with Amoco Texas Refining Company covering the property contained in said City of Beaumont Industrial District No. 12 for a term of seven (7) years beginning January 1, 1977, and ending December 31, 1983, with annual payments to the City totaling $13,392.00.
