ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING GULF STATES
UTILITIES COMPANY TO PLACE INTO EFFECT IN THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT NEW RATE SCHEDULES, COPIES
OF WHICH ARE ATTACHED HERETO, INCREASING CHARGES
FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE FURNISHED BY SAID COMPANY
IN THE CITY OF.BEAUMONT; PROVIDING FOR SEVER-
ABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
WHEREAS, Gulf States Utilities Company has requested
authority to place into effect an increase in electric rates
and charges for electric service supplied within the City of
Beaumont; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont has
studied said rate request and believes that some increase
should be granted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That Gulf States Utilities Company is hereby authorized
and directed to place into effect the following rate sched-

ules attached hereto: terms and conditions applicable to
electric service --Texas; fuel adjustment rider, schedule FA;
miscellaneous electric service charges, schedule MES; resi-
dential service, schedule RS; rider for street lighting ser-
vice, schedule RLU; general service, schedule GS; rider for
community antenna systems, schedule CAS; large general ser-
vice, schedule LGS; special air conditioning and heating
rider to schedule LGS, schedule LGS-ACH; rider for space
conditioning service, schedule SCS; rider for water heating
service, schedule WHS; rider for minimum charge for munici-
palities, schools, churches, and public playgrounds, sched-
ule MC; rider for seasonal services, schedule SS; large
power service, schedule LPS; large industrial service, sched-
ule LIS, rider to schedule LIS for off-peak service, schedule
LIS -OP; rider to schedule LIS for short-term service, sched-
ule LIS -ST; rider to schedules GS, LGS, LPS and LIS for
auxiliary or stand-by service, schedule 460; rider to sched-
ules LPS and LIS for maintenance service, schedule MS; facili-
ties charge schedule to be used in conjunction with service
and transmission voltage, schedule FC; street and highway
lighting service, schedule SHL; area lighting service, sched-
ule ALS; lighting service to existing installations only,
schedule LS -E; municipal water plant, drainage, and sewage
pumping service, schedule 508; miscellaneous contract rate
for municipal street lighting service --Beaumont, Texas,
schedule 520; municipal traffic signal rate, schedule 530;
bi-monthly meter reading and billing applicable to all
schedules of rate, schedule 150; commercial service --metered,
schedule 10-1; metered rate for time -controlled water heating,
schedule 220-T; general power service, schedule 305-T; oil
field and oil pipeline service, schedule 404-T; large oil
field and pipeline service, schedule 405-T; and rider for
auxiliary or stand-by service, schedule 460-T; and municipal
water plant, drainage and sewage pumping service, schedule
510; copies of which schedules are attached hereto and made
a part hereof for all intents and purposes.
Section 2.
That such schedules adopted herein shall be placed
into effect with each meter reading on and after July 1, 1976.
Section 3.
Nothing in this ordinance contained shall be construed
in any manner now or hereafter limiting or modifying the
right and power of the City Council under law to regulate
the rates charged by Gulf States Utilities Company for elec-
tric service within the City of Beaumont, Texas.
Section 4.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this.ordinance, or the application of same to a

particular set of persons or circumstances,,should for anv
reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no
wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to
such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance
are declared to be severable.
Section 5.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
