HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 76-49ORDINANCE NO. q ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RECOUNTED RETURNS FOR THE OFFICER FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BEAUMON^i OF THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION WHICH WAS HELD ON THE 3RD DAY OF APRIL, 1976; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont, in session duly called the regular City election to be held on the 3rd day of April, 1976, and the election returns of the votes cast in said election for the officer for the office of Mayor should be canvassed; and, WHEREAS, a recount of the returns for the officer for the Office of Mayor was duly requested; and, WHEREAS, after duly canvassing said recounted return, the City Council finds that the votes cast at said election for the officer of the Office of Mayor were as follows: For Mayor: Ken Ritter . . . . . . . . . . . 7,840 Marion "Bud" Smith . . . . . . . . . 7,838 William Lee Carrens . . . . . . . . . 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the results of the said regular City election be and the same are hereby declared to have been as herein set out, and the following named person was elected to the following office: For Mayor: Ken Ritter The City Council of the City of Beaumont further finds that notice of said election was duly and properly given as required by law and provided in the ordinance calling for said election, and the said election was duly and regularly held and returns thereof were duly and regularly made by the proper officials of said election and in all things according to law. /�-:76-�l9 z11.3 -.7Z `�� 41 .,1.' That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or.the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held --to be invalid,. such in- validity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be inseverable.
