HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 75-75a ORDINANCE NO. rJC�- 'j � ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A PART OF THE AREA LOCATED IN THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, AS AN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AS AUTHORIZED BY THE MUNICIPAL ANNEXATION ACT.; PROVIDING THE PURPOSE OF SUCH DISTRICT; AND PROVIDING THAT SUCH DISTRICT SHALL BE KNOWN AS THE "CITY OF BEAUMONT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT". WHEREAS, the Municipal Annexation Act, Article 970a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes authorizes cities to designate any part of the area located in their extraterritorial -juris- diction as an industrial district guaranteeing the extra- territorial status of such district; and, WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, by Ordinance 68-56, created the "City of Beaumont Industrial District: and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Beaumont to change the boundaries of said "City of Beaumont Industrial District". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: I. That the area described in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and made a part hereof, located.within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Beaumont is hereby designated and established as an industrial district of the City of Beaumont. II. It is hereby declared to be the purpose of the City of Beaumont to treat with such area from time to time as the City Council of the City of Beaumont may deem to be in the best in- terest of the City of Beaumont and to contract -with the owners of land in such.industrial district guaranteeing the contin- uation of the extraterritorial status of such district for a period of time not to exceed seven (7) years. J The industrialdistrict created and established by this ordinance, and described herein, shall be known as the "City of Beaumont Industrial..District". I BEGINNING on the left ascending bank of the water's -edge of the Neches River at a point which is one of the city limit corners of The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, also being a northwest corner of the Mobil Oil Corp- oration's property and a northeast corner of the Port of Beaumont property. Said corner being in the D. Brown League - Abstract 5, Jefferson County, Texas. THENCE in a southeasterly direction along the city limit line and a west line of the Mobil Oil property along the east right of way line of the Texarkana and Fort Smith Railway Company to the north line of the Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation property and a south line of the Mobil Oil property. THENCE Easterly along a south line of Mobil Oil property and the north line of the Mathieson Chemical Corporation to the east right of way line of the Southern Pacific Company (T. & N.O. R.R.). THENCE in a southerly direction with the east line of the T. & N.O. R.R. right of way to a point where the east line of the T-.& N.O. R.R. right of way inter- sects the easterly right of way line of the K.C.S. R.R. right of way. THENCE Southeasterly with the east right of way line of the K.C.S.
