HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 75-54ORDINANCE NO. 15- 5) ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAU- MONT, TEXAS, TO PROVIDE A NEW SECTION 18-9, PROVIDING FOR ISSUANCE OF LIBRARY CARDS TO NON-RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT; PRO- VIDING FEES THEREFORE; PROVIDING FOR AN EF- FECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING FOR CANCELLATION OF EXISTING LIBRARY CARDS HELD BY NON-RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, PROVIDING FOR SEVER- ABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED.BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That Chapter 18 of the Code of Ordinances to the City of Beau- mont, Texas, be and the same is hereby, amended by adding a new Section 18-9 to read as follows: Section 18-9: Fees for Non -Resident Library Cards. It shall be unlawful for a non-resident of the City of Beaumont to check out any item from the Beaumont Public Library unless he is the holder of a Non -Resident Library Card issued under the following terms and condi- tions: A. A non-resident individual card at a cost of $15.00 per year will entitle the holder to check out a maximum of four items at any one time if otherwise allowed by existing library rules for each item. B. A non-resident family card at a cost of $25.00 per year will entitle the holder to check out a maximum of eight items if other- wise allowed by existing library rules for each item. This section shall become effective from and after October'l, 1975, upon which date all existing library cards issued to and held by non-residents of the City of Beaumont shall become void and have no further force and effect. Section 2. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for. any reason. be held- to';b"e-- invalid, such in- validity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section '3. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed. Section A. Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances. -2- PASSED BY THE CInTY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the .2� day of ��Li1fJ�Q/17(�,�P/i 1975. -2-
