' 7g-39' ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE RUN-OFF ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT MAY 28, 1974) FOR COUNCILMAN, WARD -2; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont, in a ses- sion duly called this 30th day of May, 1974, proceeded according to law to canvass the returns of the run-off election which was held on May 28, 1974, and the election returns of the votes cast in said election were duly canvassed for the following position: For the office of Councilman for the 2d Ward WHEREAS, after duly canvassing said returns, the City Council found that the votes cast at said election for the candidates for said office were as follows: Councilman Ward 2 Vi McGinnis W. L. Pate TOTAL 4,500 votes 3,076 votes 7,576 votes NOW, THEREFORE; "BE IT:',ORDAINED`,.BY THE 'CITY'OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the results of the run-off election be and the same are hereby declared to have been as hereinabove set out, Iand that the following named officer is hereby declared elected: Councilman for the 2d Ward: Vi McGinnis That notice of said election was duly and properly given as required by law and provided in the ordinance calling for said run- off election, and that said election was duly and regularly held and the returns thereof were duly and regularly made by the proper offi- cials of said election and in all things according to law. Section '2. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of D- 74d' / ��� this ordinance or the application of same to.a particular set of per- sons or circumstances should for any reason be held to b�e invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise.affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
