ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND CLOSING WALL
STREET BETWEEN PEARL STREET AND MAIN STREET IN
THE ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF BEAUMONT, BEAUMONT,
JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS; PROVIDING THAT THE CITY
OF BEAUMONT SHALL RETAIN AN EASEMENT FOR GENERAL
UTILITY PURPOSES AND FOR SUCH OTHER PURPOSES AS
MAY BE FEASIBLE, INCLUDING THE CONSTRUCTION OF
A MALL OR PARKWAY AREA, IN THE EVENT TITLE, UPON
REVERSION, SHALL REVERT TO SOME OTHER THAN THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT.
WHEREAS, on August 21, 1972, the Planning and Zoning
Commission recommended that Wall Street be vacated and closed
between Pearl Street and Main Street in the original townsite
Beaumont, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that it is to the
best interest to the City of Beaumont and benefit to the public
that the said block of Wall Street be vacated and closed; and

WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont is the only abutting property
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
that one block of Wall'Street, that block lying between Pearl Street
and Main Street in the original townsite of Beaumont, Beaumont, Jef-
ferson County, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, vacated and closed
and that title to such portion of said vacated and' closed block of
Wall Street shall revert to and become the property -of the persons
entitled thereto, as provided by law.
PROVIDED, however, that in the,event. that the provisions
of law should cause.the one block of Pearl Street to revert to some
other person or persons other than the City of Beaumont, the said
one block of Wall Street hereinabove described shall nevertheless
