AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING -THE VACATING AND CLOSING
OF THAT PORTION OF THE ALLEY IN'BLOCK THIRTY (30),
CARTWRIGHT TERRACE ADDITION, BOUNDED. ON THE NORTH
BY FANNIN STREET, ON THE EAST BY LOT SIXTEEN (16),
ON THE SOUTH BY. THE G.. I. RAILROAD TRACK, AND ON -
THE WEST BY LOTS.ONE (1), TWO (2) -AND THREE (3),
IN THE CITY OF.BEAUMONT, TEXAS.
WHEREAS,.the American Rice Growers Co -Operative Associa-
tion, the sole owners of the property abutting that portion of
the alley in Block Thirty (30) of the Cartwright Terrace Addition,
bounded on the north by Fannin Street, on the east by Lot Six-
teen (16), on the south by the G. I. Railroad,track, and on the
west,by Lots One (1), Two (2) and Three (3), have requested that
said portion of said alley be vacated and closed; and,
WHEREAS,'said petition has been referred to the City Plan-
ning Commission for study, investigation and recommendation to the
City Council as to whether such proposal should be approved, and
the City Planning Commission has thoroughly studied and investi-
gated said proposal and recommended to the City Council that the
approval of the proposal would be to the best.interest.and bene-
fit of the public, and that said proposal should,.therefore, be
approved; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the best interest of The City of Beau-
mont and benefit to the public that the above described portion
of said alley be vacated and closed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAU-
MONT;,TEXAS: -
That that portion of the alley in Block Thirty.(30), Cartwright
Terrace Addition, bounded on the north by Fannin Street, on the
east by Lot Sixteen (16), on the south by the G. I. Railroad track,
and on the west by Lots One (1), Two (2) and Three (3), be, and
the same is hereby, authorized to be vacated and closed, and that
the title to said vacated and closed alley shall revert to and
become the property of the parties entitled thereto, as provided
by law.
PASSED by the City Council this 23rd day of September,

The undersigned, American Rice Growers Co-operative
Association, Beaumont Division, being the sole owner of the property
known as Lots One (1), through Six (6), inclusive and Lot Sixteen (16),
in Block Thirty (30) of Cartwright Terrace Addition to the City of
Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, hereby respectfully petition that
that portion of the alley in Block Thirty (30) bounded on the North
by Fannin Street, on the East by Lot Sixteen (16), on the South by
a Railroad track, and on the West by Lots One (1), Two (2), and Three
(3), be closed in the manner as permited by the statutes of the
State of Texas,'and that such above described portion of said alley
become the absolute property of the owners of the land adjacent
and abutting same; and that no easement or right of way be reserved
over such portion of said alley.
