OXFORD TO PURCHASE CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AUTHOR- IZING.PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AND DE- LIVER QUITCLAIM DEED TO PURCHASER FOR SAME. WHEREAS, on the 20th day of December, A. D. 19462 The City of Beaumont, Plaontiff, recovered a tax judgment against Sadie Holmes Oxford, together with the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following described property, to wit: and, Parts of Lots 11 and 12, in Block 5$, of the 1 Van Wormer Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per the map and plat of said addition of record in -the office of the County Clerk of said County, and being a triangular tract out of said lots fronting, 51.4 feet on the west side of Orange Street and running back 65 feet along the south line of the alley in said Block 58; WHEREAS, on the 4th day of March, A. D. 19472 The City of Beaumont purchased said above described property at public auction in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien; and, WHEREAS, on the 5th day of March, A. D. 1947, C. H. Meyer, Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed and delivered unto The City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described property in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien,which deed was recorded in Volume 658, Page 449, Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, on the 14th day of April, A. D. 1947; and, WHEREAS, on the 9th day of May, A. D. 1952, Virginia C. Oxford offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of The City of Beaumont, in the above described property for the sum of Five Hundred Seventy -Two Dollars and '„Fifty -Four Cents (4572.54); and, �..V'1 i. c_ 7., ♦ ca. `ms`s WHEREAS, said Virginia C. Oxford paid to The City of Beaumont the sum of Five Hundred Seventy -Two Dolland and Fifty -Four Cents ($572.54) in connection with said offer to purchase the above described property; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that such sale is for the best interest of The City of Beaumont and should be consummated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDA"I"NED BY THE CITY -OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: That the aforesaid offer to purchase the.above described prop- erty is hereby accepted, and the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of The City of Beaumont a quitclaim deed conveying unto Virginia C. Oxford all of the right, title, interest, 'claim, estate and demand of The City of Beaumont in the above described property by reason of said Sheriff's deed. 1952.
