BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON THE 15TH DAY OF MAY, A.D. 1951,1ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE . REGULATING THE _INSPECTION. AND SALE OF MEAT IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT; CONTAINING,DEFINITIONS; PRO- VIDING FOR INSPECTION; PROVIDING INSPECTION FEES; PROVIDING EXCEPTIONS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES,OR PARTS OF OR- DINANCES IN CONFLICT, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES." BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1.. That Section 10 of,an ordinance regulating the inspection and sale of meat in the City of Beaumont; containing defin- itions; providing for inspection; providing.for inspection fees; providing exceptions;._providing a severability.clause;_ repeallf g all ordinances or -parts of ordinances in conflict, and providing penalties, passed by the City Council of The City of Beaumont.on`the 15th day of May, A. D. 1951, is here by repealed. Section 2. That Section 7 of said ordinance is hereby amended to read as follows: "Inspection Fees. - All persons. -firms, or corporations operating slaughterhouses or carrying on a meat slaugh- tering, packing, or processing business and holding an abattoir permit shall be inspected under the supervision of the City .Health Officer of The City of Beaumont by a meat inspector of The City of Beaumont, and shall pay to The City of Beaumont an inspection fee of fifteen (15¢) cents per head for the inspection of all animals. The fees herein provided for shall be paid to The City of Beaumont on a monthly basis, and the City Health Of- ficer is authorized to prescribe the necessary forms or reports for the determination of the amount of fees due hereunder. The certificate of the City Health Officer as to the amount of money owing by any permit holder for inspection fees shall be conclusive and binding, unless controverted by clear and convincing evidence to the contrary. The Health Officer or someone desig- nated by him shall be given the opportunity, by each permit holder, to examine the permittees books for the purpose of determining the number of animals inspected each month. 1951. "All inspection fees accruing for any calendar month shall be payable to The City of Beaumont not later than the 15th day of the month follow- ing, and if the sum of money due for such calen- dar month as evidenced by the certificate of the City.Health Officer has not been paid to The City of Beaumont at the end of such fifteenth day, the City Health Officer shall suspend the abattoir permit of the person failing to make such payment, and the permit shall continue sus- pended until payment is made."
