PASSED by the City Council this 27th day of March, A.D. 1951. - Mayor - No Text INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS Date: March 9, 1951 To: Mrs. Willie J. Brockman, City Manager From: John D. Southwell, Director, Traffic Planning Division Subject: Curb teller for First National Bank COMMENT: We have made a thorough investigation of the request of the First National Bank of Beaumont for two curb tellers to be installed on the north curb of Bowie Street adjacent to the building owned by the applicant. After checking with the traffic divisions in other cities where this type of unit is being used, and having made a thorough study of the conditions around the applicants premises, we wish to recommend that the application for two of these units be denied. However, we do recommend that permission be granted for the installation and use of one curb teller unit to be installed at the location as shown on the accompanying drawing. This permit to be for a period of six months during which time studies and observations can be made so as to determine the effectiveness of the installation. We feel that one of these units will serve the needs of the applicant and provide curb turnover space needed by bank depositors who will use this type of service. We also feel that the installation of one unit will reduce the practice of circling the block to the extent that it will help traffic movement in this area. Yours very tr ly, 61Director ohn D.
