HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 36-WAN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND CLOSING OF A 30 -FOOT STREET OR ALLEY LYING BETWEEN LOT OR TRACT TEN (10), BLOCK TWENTY-FOUR (24) OF THE ANNIE T. WAR- REN SUBDIVISION TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AND THE EAST LINE OF.THE SABINE & EAST TEXAS RAILROAD RIGHT OF WAY WEST OF PARK STREET AS NOW ESTABLISHED. WHEREAS, the City Engineer of The City of Beaumont has rec- ommended to the City Planning Commission that the hereinafter described street or alley be vacated and closed, and the City Planning Commission has thoroughly studied and investigated such proposal and has recommended to the City Council that the closing of this street or alley would be to the best interest and benefit of the public and should, therefore, be approved; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: That the 30 -foot street or alley lying between Lot or Tract Ten (10), Block Twenty -Four (24) of the Annie T. Warren Subdivision to The City of Beaumont and the east line of the Sabine & East Texas Railroad right of way west of Park Street as now established, be, and the same is hereby authorized to be vacated and closed, and that the title to said vacated and closed street or alley shall re- vert to and become the property of the persons entitled thereto, as is provided by law, said property being described as follows: Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot or Tract 10, Block 24 of the Annie T. Warren Subdivision to The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, according to the City Tax Assessorts Plat Book, said point being in the south line of Lot.5, :Block 4 of the Poe Subdivision and also being thirty (30) feet perpendicularly distant from the east line of the Sabine & East Texas Railroad right of way; Thence south $9 degrees 44 minutes west along the north line of said Lot or Tract 10, Block 24 of the Annie T. Warren Subdivision produced or the south line of said Lot 5, Block 4 of the Poe Subdivision thirty-four (34) feet, more or less, to the southwest corner of said Lot 5, said point being in the east line of the Sabine & East Texas Railroad right of way; Thence south 27 degrees 38 minutes east along the said east line of the Sabine &; East Texas Railroad right of way five hundred two and two tenths (502.2) feet, more 1951. C �7GGr vi or less, to the west line of Park Street as now es- tablished at the north line of Florida Avenue; Thence north along the west line of said Park Street sixty=four and nine tenths (64.9) feet to corner in the west line of said Lot or Tract 10, Block 24 of the Annie T. Warren Subdivision, said point being thirty (30) feet perpendicularly distant from the east line of the Sabine & East Texas Railroad right of way; Thence north 27 degrees 38 minutes west along the said west line of Lot or Tract 100 Block 24 of the Annie T. Warren Subdivision four hundred twenty-eight and four tenths (42$.4) feet, more or less, to the place of be- ginning; e- ginning; The above described tract contains 13,959 square feet, more orless. Texas met in special session on March 21,.19511 with the following presents C. B. Holland, Chairman C. E. Holland, Vice -Chairman Russell Phelps Leonard Stone Miss Florence McCluskey, Secretary K. C. withers Absent: P. G. I&gtthews .e. Others Present: R: Clyde Black, City Engineer Mr. K. C. Withers made a notion, seconded by Leonard Stone, that the Commission dispense Trith the reading of the minutes of the meeting held January 31, 1951 and proceed with the business at hand. Passed by the Commission. .4. Mir. Leonard Stone moved that it be recommended to the City Council that the alley in Block 9 of Oaks Addition to the City of Beaumont be closed and vacated. The motion was seconded by Miss McCluskey and approved by the Commission. .M Mr. Withers made a motion that it be recommended to the City Council that the thirty foot alley adjacent to the Sabine and East Texas Railroad right-of^way and adjacent to Track No. 10, Block No. 24 of the Annie T. !Marren Subdivision be closed and vacated. The motion was seconded by Mr. Stone and approved by the -Commission. .M Mr. Leonard Stone made a motion that it be recommended to the City -Council that the name of Pierce Atreet•from•French Road to Voth Road in South i-Joodlawn Addition be changed to Redwood Drive. The motion was seconded by Mr. Phelps and passed by the Commission. Mr. Stone presented the plat of Sunset Terrace Addition to the Commission and marred that Sunset Terrace Addition be placed back on acreage basis. Mr. Stone's motion was seconded by Idlr. C. E. Holland, and unanimously approved by the Commission. -000— Mr: Withers, Chairman of the Beaumont Housing Authority board, presented plans for a two hundred unit public housing project for white families to the Commission.
