AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE OF. THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
TEXAS, RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK OF
IMPROVING ASHLEY ,',.VENUE) FROM THE EAST PROPERTY
LINE OF TENTH STREET TO THE EAST PROPERTY LINE
OF ELEVENTH STREET IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,TEXAS:
AUTHORIZING AND DI REC TINT THE EXECUTION AND
ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL ASSESSI-TENT CERTIFICnTES TO
SABINE-NECHES COI'TANY, INC., THE CONTRACTOR PER-
FORMING SAID WORK: APPROVING THE FOT14 OF SUCH
SPECIAL ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
SECTION 1:
That the work of improving the following described
street in the City of BeaLimont, Texas, to -wit:
ASHLEY AVENUE, from the East property line of
Tenth Street to the East property line of Eleventh
Street,
by raising) grading, filling, widening, paving, repaving or
repairing same and by constructing such drainage lines and
facilities and other incidentals and appurtenan-ces thereto as
deemed necessary and ad@,quate by the City Engineer and as pro-
vided for in the Plans and Specifications therefor, said paving
consisting of the construction of a six-inch (611) reinforced
Portland cement concrete pavement with integral curbs, all of
the type and width as provided for in said Plans and Specifica-
tions therefor prepared by the City Council, all of said im-
provements being as provided for and described in said Plans
and Specifications, and all of same having been performed and
completed in full accordance with all the terms and provisions
of the contract dated June 29, 1950, between said City of Beaumont,
Texas, and Sabine -Neches Company, Inc., and said Plans and
Specifications therein contained; and said City Engineer having
measured, examined and caused to be tested the finished improve-
ments by the means and in the manner provided by the terms of
said Contract and the Plans and Specifications therein contained,
and said City Engineer having found that such improvements have
been constructed and completed in full compliance with all pro-
visions of said Contract and said Plans and Specifications, and
said City Engineer having approved and accepted said work and
improvements and having heretofore issued his Certificate of
Final Acceptance, and so certified to said City Council and
recommending that said City Council accept and receive said
work and the improvements as constructed and completed by said
Sabine -Neches Company, Inc., and said work and improvements having
been examined and found by the Mayor and the City Council. -of
said City of Beaumont, Texas, to have.been performed and completed
in full compliance with said Contract and said Plank and Specifi-
cations therefor, said work and it_provements are hereby found
by said City Council to have been performed and completed by said
Sabine -Neches Company, Inc., in full compliance with the
terms and provisions of said Contract and said Plans and
::;ncecifications therefor, and same are hereby accepted and
received by said City Council of the City of Beaumont,
Texas. Said improvement is designated as Unit II in that
certain contract mentioned hereinabove.
SECTION 2:
That the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of .
Beaumont, Texas, are hereby authorized and directed to execute
and issue to Sabine -Neches Company, Inc., Special Assessment
Certificates evidencing the assessments levied against the
above described street and against the real and true owners
thereof, which, by the terms of said Contract, the City of
Beaumont, Texas, has agreed and obligated itself to issue and

deliver to said Sabine -Neches Company, Inc., in accordance
with the proceedings heretofore had and adopted by said. City
Council.; said Special Assessment Certificates shall be executed
in the name of. said City by its Mayor and City Clerk, and im-
pressed with the seal of said City, and dated as of the date
hereof, and such officers are hereby authorized and directed
to execute said Certificates in their official capacities on
behalf of said City, and deliver sale to said Sabine -leeches
Company, Inc., said Special Assessment Certificates having
heretofore been prepared, a copy of 1.�Thich is on file with the
Cite Clerk, the form and contents thereof are hereby approved
and adopted.

Gentlemen :
In accordance with the proceedings heretofore had
by your Honorable Body pertaining to the improvement of
Ashley Avenue; from the East property line of Tenth Street
to the East property line of Eleventh Street, I.wish to
inform you that the contractor, Sabine -Neches Company, Inc.,
has performed and completed all of the work b:f improving said
street in full accordance with the Plans, Specifications and
the Contract therefor dated June 29,1950, said work being
more particularly described as the construction thereupon of
a Six (611) Inch Reinforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement
together -with integral curb, drainage lines and facilities
and other appurtenances to such work. I have this date
eicamined the work done as per that certain Contract of June
29, 1950, and find that the contractor, Sabine -Neches Company,
Inc., has completed the work in a proper and highly satisfactory
manner and in full accordance with the Plans, Specifications
and the Contract referred to herein. Said improvement is des-
ignated as Unit II in that certain Contract herein set forth.
Therefore, I recommend that the City Council.accept
and receive this work.
