AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BZAUMONT,
TEXAS, RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK OF
IMPROVING LONG AVENUE FROM THE EAST PROPERTY
LINE OF TENTH STREET TO THE EAST PROPERTY LINE
OF ELEVENTH STREET IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
TEXAS: AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE EXECUTION
AND ISSUANCE OF.SPECIAL ASSESSMEIJT CERTIFICATES
TO_SABINE-NECHES COMPANY, INC.,THE CONTRACTOR
PERFORMING SAID WORK: APPROVING THE FORM OF SUCH
SPECIAL ASSESSME14T CERTIFICATES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
SECTION 1:
That the work of improving the following described
street in the City of Beaumont, Texas, to -wit:
LONG AVENUE, from the East property line of Tenth
Street to the East property line of Eleventh Street,
by raising, grading, filling, widening, paving, repaving or
repairing same and by constructing such drainage lines and
facilities and other incidentals and appurtenances thereto as
deemed necessary and adequate by the City Engineer and as
provided for in the Plans and Specifications therefor., said
paving consisting of the construction of a six-inch (611) re-
inforced Portland cement concrete pavement with integral curbs,
all of the. type and width asprovided for in said Plans and
Specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer, and
heretofore approved and adopted by said City Council, all of
said improvements being as provided for and described in said
Plans and Specifications, and all of same having been performed
and completed in full accordance with all the terms and pro-
visions of the contract dated June 29, 1950, between said City
of Beaumont, Texas, and Sabine -Neches Company,.Inc., and said
Plans and Specifications therein contained; and said City Engineer
having measured, examined and caused to be tested the finished
improvements by the means and in the manner provided by the
terms of said Contract and the Plans and Specifications therein
contained, and said City Engineer having found that such im-
provements have been constructed and completed in full compliance
with all provisions of said Contract and said Plans and Speci-
fications, and said City Engineer having approved and accepted
said work and improvements and having heretofore issued his
Certificate of Final Acceptance, and so certified to said City
Council and recommending that said City Council accept and re-
ceive said work and the improvements as constructed and completed
by said Sabine -Neches Company, Inc., and said work and improve-
ments having been examined and found by the Mayor and the City
Council of said City of Beaumont, Texas, to have been performed
and completed in full compliance with said Contract and said
Plans and Specifications therefor, said work and improvements
are hereby found by said City Counci l,.to have been performed
and completed by said Sabine -Neches Company, Inc., in full com-
pliance with the terms and provisions of said Colitract and said
Plans and Specifications therefor, and same are hereby accepted
and received by said City -Council of the City of Beaumont,
.Texas. Said improvement is designated as Unit,I in that_'certain
Contract mentioned hereinabove.
SECTION 2
That the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Beaumont,
Texas, are hereby authorized and directed to execute and issue
to Sabine-Neches,Company, Inc., Special Assessment Certificates
evidencing the assessments levied against the properties im-
proved abutting upon the above described street and against
the real and true owners thereof, trrhich, by the terms of said
Contract, the City of Beaumont, Texas, has agreed and obligated
itself to issue anddeliver to said Sa.bi.ne--Neches Company, Inc.,
in accordance with the provisions of the Final Assessment
Ordinance and other proceedin:-,s heretofore had and adopted by
said City Council; said Special Assessment Certificates shall
be executed in the name of said City by its Mayor and City Clerk,
and impressed with the seal of said City, and dated as of the
date hereof, and such officers are hereby authorized and directed
to execute said Certificates in their official capacities on
behalf of said City, and deliver same to said Sabine -Neches
Company, Inc., said Special Assessment Certificates having
heretofore been prepared, a copy of which is on file with the
City Clerk, the form and contents thereof are hereby approved
and adopted.

In accordance with the proceedings heretofore
had by your Honorable Body pertaining to the iiTprovement of
.Long _'-_venue, from the =past property line of Tenth Street to
the -East property line of Eleventh Street, I wish to inform
you that the contractor, Sabine -Neches Company, lnc., has
performed and completed all of the work ;o=f improving said
street in full accordance with the Plans, Specifications and
the Contract therefor dated June 29, 1950, said wore being
more particularly described as the construction thereupon of
a Six (611) Inch Reinforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement
together with integral curb, drainage lines and facilities
and other appurtenances to such ,,,Tock. I have this date examined
the work done as per that certain Contract of June 29, 1950,
and find that the contractor, Sabine. -Neches Company-) Inc., has
completed the work in a proper and highly satisfactory manner
and in full accordance -with the Plans, Specifications and the
Contract referred to herein. :aid i_.provere nt is designated as
Unit I in that certain Contract herein set forth.
Therefore; I recommend that the City Council accept
and receive this work.
