WAY OF THE SANTA FE_ RAILROAD IN BLOCK THIRTY-NINE (39) OF THE CARTWRIGHT TERRACE.ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEAU'MONT, TERAS. - WHEREAS, the owners of property abutting Quincy Street between Gilbert Street and College Street, and the alley between Gilbert Street and the right of way of the Santa Fe Railroad in Block Thirty -Nine (39), all in the Cartwright Terrace Adddtion to The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, have requested that said portion of said Street and alley be vacated and closed; and, WHEREAS, said petition has been referred to the City Plan- ning Commission for study, investigation and recommendation to the City Council as to whether such proposal should be approved, and the City Planning Commission has thoroughly studied and investi- gated said proposal, and recommended to the City Council that the approval of the proposal would be to the best interest and benefit of the public,.and that said proposal should, therefore, be approved; and, WHEREAS4 it is to the best interest of The City of Beaumont 0 and benefit to the public that the above-mentioned street and alley be vacated and closed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: That Quincy Street b.etween Gilbert Street and College Street and the alley between Gilbert Street and the right of way of the Santa Fe Railroad, in Block Thirty -Nine (39) of the Cartwright Terrace Addition to The City of Beaumont, Texas, be and the same are hereby authorized to be vacated and closed, and that the title to said vacated and closed street and alley shall revert to and become the property of the parties entitled thereto, as provided by law. 1950. C ONKLIN - No Text REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION HELD AUGUST 7, 1950 BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Planning Commission'of the City of Beaumont, Texas met in regular session on August 7, 1950 with the following present: Co B. Holland, Chairman Others Present: C. E. Holland, Vice. -Chairman Russell Phelps R. C. Black, City Engineer K. C. VTithers George Schaumberg Leonard Stone Absent: Miss Florence McCluskey P, G, Matthews Mr. C. E. Holland moved that the minutes of the meetings of July 12th and'July 24th be approved. Motion seconded by Leonard Stone and passed by the commission. --000— Mr. Schaumberg presented for final approval the Mary Howell Addition to the City of Beaumont, originally designated as the Summit Heights Addition. Motion made by Mr. Withers and seconded by Mr, C, E. Holland. Passed by the commission. R. C. Black, City Engineer, presented for preliminary approval the Poe Addition to the City of Beaumonti A motion was made by Russell Phelps, seconded by Mr. C. E. Holland and approved by the commission. —000. - On motion by Mr, Withers$ seconded by Mr. Phelps, Mr. Stone was made acting secretary of the commission in the absence of Miss McCluskey, and placed his signature on the maps of the Booker Terrace Addition and the Mary Howell Addition to the City of Beau— mont.. .e. Mr, Withers moved that it be recommended to the City Council that Quincy Street from College Street to Gilbert Street be closed and vacated, and that the alley through Block 39, Cartwright Terrace Addition be closed and vacated. This motion was seconded by C. E. - Holland and unanimously approved by the commission. Mr, C. E. Holland moved that the commission approve the $4Y000P000 railroad bond issue of August 12, 1950 in its entirety. This action was approved in a roll call vote by C. B. Holland, Russell Phelps, C. E. Holland, K. C. Withers and Leonard Stone. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. C, B. Holland, Chairman
