HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 41-VAN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK OF IMPROV- ING BOOKER STREET FROM 4TH STREET EAST TO PRADICE STREET AND PRADICE STREET FROM BOOKER STREET SOUTH TO THE SOUTH LINE OF THE PRIVATE DRIVE DESIGNATED AS LINCOLN DRIVE IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: SECTION 1: That the work of improving the -following described streets in the City of Beaumont, Texas, to -wit: Booker Street from 4th Street East to Pradice Street and Pradice Street from Booker Street South to the South line of the Private Drive designated as Lincoln Drive in the City of Beaumont, Texas has been completed by Trotti & Thomson, Inc.,Contractor, and the City Engineer of the City of Beaumont having examined said work and having found that said work has been completed in a proper and highly satisfactory manner and in full accordance with the minimum standard requirements of the City of Beaumont for the type of construction made thereon, same being the construction of reinforced Portland Cement Concrete pavement together with necessary appurtenances to such type of construc- tion, and the said City Engineer having approved and having recommended the acceptance of such work by the City Council of the City of Beaumont and the assumption by the City of Beaumont of the obligation of maintenance of said streets with- in the limits designated according to the standards prescribed for maintenance of other dedicated streets in the City of Beaumont, and said work and improvements having been examined and found by the Mayor and the City Council of said City of Beaumont to have been performed and completed in full compliance with the minimum standard requirements of the City of Beaumont, said work and improvements are hereby found by said City Council to have been performed and completed by said Trotti & Thomson, Inc., in full accordance with the minimum standard requirements of the City of Beaumont for such construction, and said improve- ments are hereby accepted and received by said City Council of the City of Beaumont, and said City Council of the City of Beaumont acting for the City of Beaumont hereby assumes the ob- ligation of maintaining said streets within the limits desig- nated according to the standards prescribed for maintenance of other dedicated streets in the City of Beaumont. SECTION 2: That said City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby further accepts and receives said streets from the parties who have heretofore on May 9th, 1950, entered into a Contract with Trotti & Thomson, Inc., for the improvement of said streets, said parties being Willis W. Thames, Ross T. Combest and Ross Combest, and said City Council hereby relieves said parties and said Contractor from any and all obligations to maintain or repair said streets within the limits designated from and after the date hereof. 1950. PASSED by the City Council, this the ,ZotC day of June, CITY O,F B E AUM.❑ mrr ",BEAUMOI�TTEXAS June b, 1950 To the Mayor and City Council City of Beaumont Beaumont, Teras Gentlemen: I wish to inform you that Trotti & Thomson, Inc., has completed all of the work connected with improving the streets hereinafter named in full accordance with the minimum standard requirements of the City of Beaumont: Booker Street, from 4th Street East to Pradice Street; and Pradice Street, from Booker Street South to the South line of the private drive designated as Lincoln Drive. Both of said streets named hereinabove which have been im- proved within the limits designated are located within the City limits of the City of Beaumont and in the area of the Lincoln Ter- race Apartment Project. Said work consists of the construction_ of five (5) inches reinforced Portland Cement Concrete type of pave- ment together with necessary appurtenances to such type of con- struction. I have examined the work done and find that the Contractor, Trotti & Thomson, Inc., has completed the work in a proper and highly satisfactory manner. Therefore, I recommend that the City Council accept and re- ceive this work and assume the obligation of maintaining said streets within the limits designated according to the standards pre- scribed for maintenance of other dedicated streets in the City of Beaumont. espectfully, e R.
