HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 34-V-a - m-6 AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, RECEIVING AND ACCEPT- ING THE WORK OF IMPROVING HARRISON AVENUE FROM THE EAST PROPERTY LINE OF THE GAYLYNN PROJECT TO THE WEST PROPERTY LINE OF THE GAYLYNN PROJECT, AND FOURTEENTH STREET, FROM THE NORTH LINE OF NORTH STREET NORTHWARD TO ASHLEY DRIVE, IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:- SECTION I: That the work of improving the following described streets in the City of Beaumont, Texas, to-wit:- HARRISON AVENUE, from the East property line of the Gaylynn Project to the West property line of the Gaylynn Project, and FOURTEENTH STREET, from the North line of North Street Northward to Ashley Drive, by raising, grading, filling, widening, paving, repaving or repair- ing same and by constructing such drainage lines and facilities and other incidentals and appurtenances thereto as deemed necessary and adequate by the City Engineer and as provided for in the Plans and Specifications therefor, said paving consistinT of the construction thereupon on Harrison Avenue of a six inch (6f1 Reinforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, together with Integral Curb and Gutter and of a total width of thirty-seven feet and two inches (371211), and on Fourteenth Street, of the construction thereupon of a five inch (5") Reinforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, together with Integral Curb, all of the type and width as provided for in -,said Plans and Specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer, and heretofore approved and adopted by said City Council, all of said improvements being as provided for and described in said Plans and Specifications and all of same having been performed and completed in full accor- dance with all of the terms and provisions of the Contract dated October 18, 1949, between said City of Beaumont and said Trotti & Thomson, Inc., and said Plans and Specifications therein contained and Change Order No. One issued by R. Clyde Black, City Engineer, City of Beaumont, dated December 21, 1949; And said City Engineer having measured, examined and caused to be tested the finished improvements by the means and in the manner provided by t e terms of said Contract and the Plans and Specifica- tions therein contained, and said City Engineer having found that such improvements have been constructed and completed in full com- pliance with all provisions of said Contract and said Plans and Specifications, and said Change Order, and said City Engineer hav- ing approved and accepted said work and improvements and having here- tofore issued his certificate of final acceptance, and so certified to said City Council and recommending that said City Council accept and receive said work and improvements as constructed and completed by said Trotti & Thomson, Inc., and said work and improvements hav- ing been examined and found by the Mayor and City Council of said _City of Beaumont, Texas, to have been performed and completed in full compliance with said Contract and said Plans and Specifications there- for, said work and improvements are hereby found by said City Council to have been performed and completed by said Trotti & Thomson, Inc., 6)� 3 (4 - V in full compliance with the terms and provisions of said Contract, said Plans and Specifications and said Change Order, and same are hereby accepted and received by said .City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas. SECTION -II: The improvements mentioned hereinabove are designated as Unit I in that certain Contract of Octoberl8, 1949, mentioned here- inabove. TEXAS April 3, 1950 Mayor and City Council City of Beaumont Beaumont, Texas He: Unit I in Contract of October 18, 1949, Harrison Avenue and Fourteenth Street Gentlemen: - In accordance with the proceedings heretofore had by your Honorable Body pertaining to the improvements of Harrison Avenue, from the East property line of the Gaylynn Project to the West property of the Gaylynn Project and Fourteenth Street, from the North line of North Street Northward to Ashley Drive, I wish to inform you that the Contractor, Trotti & Thomson, Inc., has performed and completed all of the work in improving said streets in full accordance with the Plans, Specifications and the Cohtract therefor dated October 1$, 1949, and also in accor- dance with Change Order No. One issued by R. Clyde Black, City Engineer, City of Beaumont, dated December 21, 1949, said work being more particularly described on Harrisoh Avenue as the con- struction thereupon of a six inch (6f1) Reinforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, together with Integral Curb and Gutter and of a total width of thirty-seven feet and two inches and on Fourteenth Street of the construction thereupon of a five inch (5") Reinforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, toggther with Integral Curb and of a width of twenty-eight feet, those streets containing drain- age lines and facilities and other appurtenances to such work. I have examined the work done as per that certain Con- tract of October 18, 1949, and find that the Contractor, Trotti & Thomson, Inc., has completed the work in Unit I in a proper and highly satisfactory manner, and in full accordance with the Plans, Specifications and the Contract referred to herein, as well as the Change Order issued by R. Clyde Black on December 21, 1949.
