AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLE_ D AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF' BEAUMONT,
TEXAS, RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING- THE WORK OF
IMPROVING LAUREL AVENUE, FROM THE WEST LINE OF
ELEVENTH STREET WESTWARD TWENTY-TWO HUNDRED.
(2200) FEET IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS;
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE EXECUTION AND
ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATES TO
R. P. FARNSWORTH AND COMPANY, TIE CONTRACTOR --
PERFORMING SAID WORK; APPROVING THE -FORM OF SUCH
SPECIAL ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT : -
Section 1: -
That the work -of improving the following described street
in the City of Beaumont,- Texas, to -Wit:
Laurel Avenue from the West Line of
Eleventh Street Westward Twenty-two
Hundred (2200) feet-,
by raising, grading, filling, widening, paving, repaving or repair-
ing same, or by constructing such drainage lines and facilities
and other incidentals and appurtenances thereto as deemed necessary
and adequate by the City Engineer and .as provided .for in the Plans
and Specifications therefor, said paving consisting of the -construc-
tion of a Seven Inch (7") . Reinforced Portland Cement `Concrete Slab
without curb and- gutter of the type and width provided., for in said
Plans and Specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer and
heretofore approved and adopted by said City Council, all of said
improvements being as provided for: and described in said Plans and
Specifications, and all of same having been performed and -completed
in full accordance with all of the terms and provisions of the Con-
tract dated May 4, 1949, between,said City of. Beaumont, Texas, and
R. P. Farnsworth &, Company-, Inc . , and said Plans and -Specifications
therein contained; and said City Engineer having measured, examined,
and caused to be tested the finished improvements by the means and
in the manner provided by the terms of said Contract and the Plans.
and Specifications therein contained, and said City Engineer having
found that such improvements have been constructed and completed
in full compliance with all provisions of said Contract and said
Plans and Specifications, and said City Engineer having approved and
accepted said mrk and improvements and having heretofore issued
his certificate of final acceptance,and so certified to said City
Council and recommending that said - City - Council accept and receive
said work and said improvements as constructed and completed by said
R. P. Farnsworth &Company, Inc., and said work and improvements
having been examined and found by the Mayor and the City Council
of said City of Beaumont, Texas, to have been performed and com-
pleted in full compliance with said Contract and said Plans and
Specifications therefor, said work and improvements are hereby found
by said City Council to have been performed and completed by said
R. P. Farnsworth & Company, Inc. , in full compliance with the terms
and provisions of said Contract and said Plans and Specifications
therefor, and same are hereby accepted and received by -said -City
Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas. . '
Section 2:
That the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Beaumont,
Texas, are _hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver
to R. P. Farnsworth & Company, Inc., Special Assessment Certifi-
cates, evidencing -the assessments -levied against the properties
improved abutting upon the above-described street and against the
real and true owners thereof, which, by the terms of -said Contract,
the City of Beaumont, Texas, has agreed and adopted itself to
issue and deliver to said R. P. Farnsworth & Company, Inc., in
accordance with the provisions of the final Assessment Ordinance
and other proceedings heretofore had and adopted by said City
Council; said Special Assessment Certificates shall be executed
in the name of said City by its Mayor and City Clerk, and impressed
with the seal of said City and dated as of the date hereof, and
such officers are hereby directed and authorized to execute said
Certificates in their official capacities on behalf of said City,
and deliver same to said .R. P. Farnsworth & Company, Inc., said -
Special Assessment Certificates having been heretofore prepared,.
a copy of which is on file with the City Clerk, the -form and con-
tents thereof are hereby approved and adopted.

To the Mayor and City Council
City of Beaumont, Texas
Gentlemen:
In accordance with the proceedings heretofore had by your honorable
body pertaining to the improvement of Laurel .Avenue from Eleventh Street
westward 2200 feet, I wish to inform you that the Contractor, R. P.
Farnsworth & Co., Inc., has performed and completed all the work in
improving said street in full accordance with the plans, specifications,
and the Contract therefor dated May 4, 1949, said work being more par—
ticularly described as the construction thereupon of a seven (7) inch
Reinforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Vd thout Curb and Gutter, and
drainage lines and facilities and other appurtenances to such work.
I have examined the work done as per that certain Contract of May 4,
1949, and find that the.Contractor, R. P. Farnsworth & Co., Inc., has
completed the work in a proper and highly satisfactory manner, and in
full accordance with the plans, specifications and the Contract referred
to herein.
Therefore, I recommend that the City Council accept and receive this
work.
