AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE.AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND ABAN-
DONING OF THE ALLEYS LOCATED IN;BLOCK THIRTY-ONE
(31)OF THE CARTWRIGHT TERRACE ADDITION TO THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT, AS SHOWN BY THE MAP THEREOF RE-
CORDED IN VOLUME 3, PAGE 117, OF THE MAP RECORDS
OF JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, SAME BEING A REPLAT
OF BLOCK THIRTY-ONE (31) OF THE WEST CARTWRIGHT
ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, AS SHOWN BY MAP
RECORDED IN VOLUME 69, PAGE 462 OF THE DEED
RECORDS OF JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, H. G. Nichols is the sole owner of all of the lots
in Block Thirty -One (31) of the Cartwright Terrace Addition to The
City of Beaumont, as shown by the map thereof recorded in Volume
3, page 147 of the Map Records of Jefferson County, Texas, same
being a replat of Block Thirty -One (31) of the West Cartwright Ad-
dition to The City of Beaumont, as shown by the map thereof recorded
in Volume 69, page 462 of the Deed Records of Jefferson County,
Texas, and a petition signed by the said H. G. Nichols has been pre-
sented to the City Council of The City of Beaumont, requesting that
the alleys in said Block 31, as shown on both of the maps above
described, be vacated and abandoned; and,
WHEREAS, said petition has been referred to the City.:Plan-
ning Commission for examination and approval and the same has been
approved by the City Planning Commission; and,
WHEREAS, said petition has been duly examined by the City
Council, and it appearing to the City Council that the request of
said property owner should be granted, and that an ordinance should
be enacted vacating and abandoning said alleys;
NOW, THEREFORE,'BE I^1 ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the alleys in Block Thirty-one (31) of the Cartwright Terrace
Addition to The City of Beaumont, as above described, be and the
same are hereby authorized to be vacated and abandoned, and that the
title to such alleys shall revert to the parties entitled thereto,
as provided by law.

I, the undersigned, H. G. Nichols, being the sole owner
of all of Block Thirty'One (31) of the Cartwright Terrace
Addition to the City of Beaumont, as shown by the map thereof
recorded in Vol. 32 P. 147 of the Map Records of Jefferson
county, Texas, same being a replat of Block Thirty One (31)
of the West Cartwright Addition to the City of Beaumont, as
shown by the map thereof recorded in Vol. 69, P. 462 of the
Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, hereby respectfully
petition: that the alleys located in said block and as shown
on both of the maps above described be closed in the manner
permitted by the statutes of the State of Texas, and that
such alleys become the absolute property of the undersigned
as the owner of said block and all of the property adjacent
to and abutting on such alleys.
