HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 10-VAN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 71-26 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, SETTING FORTH APPROVED WIRING METHODS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: That Article 71-26 of the Code of The City of Beaumont be and the same is hereby amended to reas as follows: "Art. 71-26 - Approved wiring methods. Method A - Standard rigid steel conduit. Method B - Metal underfloor raceway. Method C - Underplaster extensions. Method D - Flexible steel conduit. Method E - Approved cable. Method F - Armored cable lead sheathed. Method G - Surface metal raceways. Method H - Bare -bus -bars and risers. Method I - Wireways and busways. Method J - Auxiliary -gutters. Method K - Knob and tube. Flexible metallic conduit may be used only where it is impractical to use rigid steel conduit. The conductors of all wiring methods except bare - bus -bars. shall be insulated, provided, however, conductors for service may conform to permissible exceptions in Table 1 of the National Electrical Code. Knob tube construction may be used only where the total number of -hot outlets does not exceed forty- eight; provided, however, that in garages and gar- age apartments knob and tube construction may be used only where the total number of hot outlets does not exceed twenty-four. In garage and garage apartments, where floor area is sufficient to permit the storage of more than two vehicles, either conduit work, surface metal raceways, armored cable or electrical metallic tubing, or wireways and busways as specified in the National Electrical Code, shall be employed as the wiring method. Where the floor space will accommodate not more than two vehicles, any wiring method approved by the National Electrical Code may be employed. The term "fire limits" referred to in provisions of this chapter shall include the district con- tained within the inner fire limits as they exist at the time of the installation or performance of such electrical, work."
