AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER
OF M. B. GILL AND UX, TO PURCHASE
CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AUTHORIZING
PROPER CITY OFFICERS TO EXECUTE
AND DELIVER QUITCLAIM DEED TO
PURCHASER OF SAT,TE.
PREAMBLE
VHEREAS, on the 5th day of March, A.D., 1947, the City of
Beaumont, for itself and as Trustee for the State of Texas and
County of Jefferson, recovered a tax judgment against J. E.
Broussard, C. E. Broussard, and J. E. Broussard, Jr., Trustees
of the Broussard Trust, and.. -.the!,. foreclosure -of;: ta_x'.lien upon
the following described property, to -wit;
Lot 9, in Block 70, of the North Addition to
the City of Bd.aumont, Jefferson County, Texas,
as per -map or plat of said addition of record
in the office of the County Clerk, Jefferson
County, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, on the 6th day of May, A.D., 1917, the City of
Beaumont, for itself and as Trustee for the State of Texas and
the County of Jefferson, purchased said above described property
at public auction in satisfaction ''of said judgment and tax lien;
and,
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of May, A.D., 1947, W. W. Richardson,
Sheriff of Jefferson county, Texas, made, .executed and delivered unto
the City of Beaumont for itself and as Trustee for -the -State of Texas
and the County of Jefferson a tax deed to the above described pro
perty in satisfaction of -said judgment and tax lien, which deed was
recorded in Wol. 666, page'136, Deed Records of Jefferson County,
Texas on the 25th day of June, A .D . ; 1917,; and,
WHEREAS, on the 1st day of April, A.D., 1949, M. G. Gill and
wife, Thelma Gill, offered to purchase all of the right, title,
interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the
above described property for the sum of Six'Hundred Twenty. and 00100
($620.00) Dollars; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that such sale is
for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be consummated;
subject to the reservation in favor of the City of Beaumont of an ease-
ment for sewer purposes only five (5) feet in width off the South side
of the above described lot;
NOW, therefore, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of
Beaumont that the aforesaid offer to purchase the above described pro-
perty is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont,
the State of Texas and the County of Jefferson a quitclaim deed don-
veying unto M. B, .Gill and wife, Thelma Gill, all of the right, title,
interest, ,c laim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont -in the above
described property derived by reason of said Sheriffts deed, subject
to the reservation in favor of the City of Beaumont of an easement

for sewer purposes only five (5) feet in.width off the South side
of the above described lot.

That the City of 'Beaumont, a municipal corporation, of Jefferson
County, Texas,acting herein by and thrown its Mayor and -City Clerk,
for itself and as Trustee for the State of Texas and County of Jeffer-
son, hereunto duly authorized b� Ordinance of the City Council, a certi-
fied copy of which Ordinance is attached hereto and marked "Exhibit A"
for and in consideration of the sum of Six Hundred Twenty and 00/100
("620.00) Dollars, cash in hand paid to the City of Beaumont, the State
of Texas and County of Jefferson by M. B. Gill and wife, Thelma Gill,
the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and confessed, has quit-
glairied and by these presents does quitclaim ,into the said I7I. B. Gill
and wife, `Thelma Gill, subject to the easement hereinafter retained,
all of the right3 title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the
City of BeaLL"ont, the State of Texas and County of Jefferson in and to
the following described property, to -wit:
Lot 9, in Kock 70, of the North Addition to the
City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per
map .or plat of said addition of record in the office
of the County Clerk, Jefferson County, Texas, and
further reference is here made to the deed to said
property from J. E. 3roussard, C. E. Broussard, and
J. E. Broussard, Jr., Trustees of the Broussard
Trust, b;; Sheriff to the City of Beaumont for itself
and as Trustee for the State of Texas and. the County
of Jefforson; recorded in Vol. 666, page 136, Deed
Records of Jcfforson County, Texas,
with all and singular the right, title, interest, claim, estate r-nd
demand of the City of )'eoumont, the 'State of Texas and County of
Jefferson in and to the hereditaments and appurtenances thereto be-
longing or in anywise pertaining.
To have and to hold the above released right, title, interest,
claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont, the State of Texas
and County of Jefferson unto the said 14. B. Gill and wife, Thelma
Gill, their heirs and assigns, forever, so that the said City of
Beaumont, the State of Texas and County of Jefferson will have no
further right, title, interest, claim, e statc or demand in and to
said property by reason of the above referred to Sheriff's deed.
