Dear Mr. Martin:
We acknowledge receipt of your letter of February 15,
1955,_ with reference to the petition of the property owner
to close the alley in Block 38 of the Van Wormer Addition,
Beaumont, Texas.
We have no facilities in this alley at the present
time, and we do not plan to install any in the future; there-
fore, we do not object to the abandonment of this alley under
the terms stated in your letter.
Thank you for your courtesy in advising us of this action.

Gentlemen:
We have received your letter showing an alley to be closed,
located between Cedar and Bonham Streets and running from Avenue
B to Avenue C in the city of Beaumont, Texas. This alley is to
be closed with no reservations whatsoever concerning existing or
future utility easements.
The United Gas Corporation does not have a line located in
this alley, and we are agreeable to the alley being abandoned. -
without reservations.

COMMENT:
The Water Department has no service lines in the alley
between Cedar and Bonham from Avenue C to Avenue B. Therefore,
it is satisfactory with the Water Department that the Alley be
closed.

I, the undersigned, being the sole owner of all the property
abutting on the alley in fractional Block 385 of the Van Wormer Addi—
tion to the City of Beaumont, hereby respectfully petition that the
alley located in fractional Block 38, Van Wormer Addition be closed
in the manner as permitted by the statutes of the State of Texas,
and that such alley become the absolute property of the owner of the
land in said block adjacent and abutting on such alley. There are
no water or other utilities lines in said alley at this time and as
all property in said block adjacent and abutting on said alley is now
being served with present lines there is no apparent need for future
placing of such services in said alley. Also said alley dead—ends at
Avenue C, beyond which is Railroad property. In view of the above
and the comparatively short distance of said alley I respectfully
petition that usual reservations for placing and maintaining sewer,
water lines, or other services in said alley be eliminated and that
fee simple title to said alley in fractional Block 38 above referred
to become the absolute property of the undersigned owner.
