AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND
CLOSING OF AN ALLEY RUNNING BETWEEN LOTS ONE
(1) TWO (2) AND THREE (3) , AND LOTS TWELVE
(12 � , THIRTEEN (13) A10 FOURTEEN (14) , IIS
BLOCK TWO (2) OF THE SILVER CITY ADDITION TO
THE CITY OF BEATMIONT, TEXAS.
a1HEREAS, a petition..signed by the owner of Lots 1, 2,
and 3, and Lots 12, 13 and 14, in Block 2 of the Silver City
Addition to The City of Beaumont has been presented to the
City Council of The City of Beaumont,requesting that the alley
running between said lots in said block be vacated and.abandoned;
and,
iaHEREAS, said petition. has been referred to' the City
Planning Commission,for study, investigation and recommendation
to the City Council as to whether such proposal should be ap-
proved, and the City Planning Commission has thoroughly studied
.and investigated said proposal and recommended to the City Coun-
cil that the approval of the proposal would-be to the best in-
terest and benefit of -the public, and`that said proposal should;
therefore, be approved;.and,.
�,JHEREAS, it' is, to the best interest of The .City of Beau-
mont and benefit to the.public that the above-mentioned alley
be vacated and closed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TUE CITY OF
BEATMONT, TEXAS:
That -the alley running between Lots 1, 2 and 3, and Lots 12, 13
and 14, in B-locic. 2 of the Silver City. Addition to The 'City of
Beaumont, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, -authorized to be
vacated and closed, and that the title of said vacated and
closed alley shall revert to and become the property of the party
entitled thereto, as. provided by law.
PASSED. by the City Council this 5th day of October, A.D.
1954.

SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY PLANNING & ZONING SUBCOMMITTEE
HELD SEPTEMBER 15, 1954
City Enginee-r Martin stated that he had received a petition from Keith F. Hotchkiss,
sole owner of all property abutting on the alley in the East half of Block 2, of the
Silver City Addition, requesting that the alley located in the East half of Block 2,
Silver City Addition be closed,
Mr. Martin said the alley in the west half of Block 2 of Silver - City Addition has
already been closed and is being used for a cemetery and that in the event the
alley in the east half is closed, it would also be used for cemetery purposes. He
said there is no water line in this alley or any other utility -.-.easement.
Motion was made by Mr—Hawthorne and seconded by Mr.. C. E. Holland that the
City Planning and .Zoning Commission recommend to the City Council that the alley
located in the East half of Block 2, Silver -City Addition, be closed.

I, the undersigned, being the sole owner of all the property .
abutting on the alley in the East half of Block 2 , of the Silver
Cites Addition to the City of Beaumont, hereby respectfully
petition that the alley located in the East half of Block 2 ,
Silver City ,_ addition be closed in the manner as permitted by the
statutes of the S.tate of Texas, and that such alley become the
absolute property of the owner of the land in said block adjacent
and abutting on such alley. The alley in the Viest half of Block 2
of Silver City Addition has already been closed.
