AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND
CLOSING OF ALLEY IN BLOCK ONE (1),.OF THE
FLOWERS ADDITION,.IN THE_CITY OF_BEAUMONT,
TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a petition signed by all of the property
owners of Block One (1) of the Flowers Addition to The City
of Beaumont has been presented to the City Council of The City
of Beaumont, requesting that the alley in said Block be vacated
and abandoned; and
WHEREAS, said petition has been referred to the City
Planning Commission for study, investigation and recommendation
to the City Council as to whether such proposal should be ap-
proved, and the City Planning Commission has thoroughly studied
and investigated said proposal and recommended to the City Council
that the approval of the proposal would be to the best interest
and benefit of the public, and that said proposal should, there
fore, be approved; and
WHEREAS, it is to the best interest of The City of
Beaumont and benefit to the public that the above mentioned
alley be vacated and closed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT,-TEXAS:
That the alley running through Block One (1), of the Flowers
Addition to The City of Beaumont, Texas, be, and the same is
hereby, authorized to be vacated and closed, and that the title
to said vacated and closed alley shall revert to and become the
property of the parties entitled thereto, as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council this 11th day A August,

EXCERPT FROM THE
REGULAR.SESSION OF THE CITY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
HELD AUGUST 10, 1953
A petition was presented, signed by all property owners, requesting that the alley
in Block 1, Flowers Addition be closed.
Mr. D. H. Smith, Engineering Department, stated that he had checked the
location and that there is no water line in the alley.
Motion was made by Leonard Stone and seconded by Russell Phelps that the City
Planning & Zoning.Corrmission recommend to the City Council that the alley in
Block 1, Flowers Addition be closed. The motion carried unanimously.

We, the undersigned, being the sole owners of all the property
abutting on alley in Block On.� of the Flowers
Addition to the City of Beaumont, hereby respectfully petition that the
alley located in Block Q,nes Flowers Addition be
closed in the manner as permitted by the statutes of the State of Texas,
and that such alley become `the absolute property of the owners of the land
in said block adjacent and abutting on such alley, it being understood,
however, that the closing of this alley shall in no way affect the rights
of the City as to placing and maintaining therein of any sewer or water
lines.. or telephone, telegraph, or electric lines, wires, poles, or cables
or any other service or utility of the City, or the right of the City to
grant franchises to persons or corporations to place and maintain therein
any such sewer or water line, or telephone, telegraph, or electric lines,
wires, poles, or cables, or any other service or utility of the City.
