Beaumont for school purposes, apart of Common School District J-5. of Jefferson County, Texas, commonly known and called the "French -School District"; providing that such annex- ation shall be in all things subject to the obligations and under the conditions set forth in Article 2883, Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, the Constitution, and other general laws of the State of Texas, and the Charter of the City of Beaumont. Whereas, a petition signed by a majority of the resident qualified voters residing in the portion of Common School District 45 of Jefferson County, Texas, hereinafter described, asking that such' territory be annexed to the City of Beaumont for school purposes only under the provisions of Article 2883, Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas has been filed with the City Commission, and; -Whereas, a majority vote of the Trustees of the Public Free Schools of the City of Beaumont has recommended that' such petition be granted; NOW, THEREFORE, : BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C011rb:IISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the corporate lines of the City of Beawnont be extended for school purposes only so as to hereafter take in and include hereinafter described for school purposes the part, of Common School Di strict'J5,�of Jefferson County, Texas, being a portion of what is commonly known and called the "French School District", off the South side thereof, defined and bounded as follows: Beginning at a point on the division line between the Beaumont City School District and the French School District, where ; said line intersects: -the North line of the Averill Addition to the City of Beaumont, Texas: Thence in a west and southwestern direction with 'the north line of_said_Aver ill Addition to its northwest corner; thence due west to the division line between the- French School District and the Amelia School District; thence south with said west line of said French School District to its southwest corner; thence east with the south line of the said French School District to the division line between said District and the Beaumont City School District; thence north with said division line to place of beginning* Section 2. Aug. 16, 1924 Election in City of Beaumont to assume pro rata of French School bonded indebtedness. Aug. 19, 1924 Resolution of City Commission canvassing favorable vote to assume pro rata bonded debt. March 23, 1926 Ordinance of City Commission defining pro rata debt assumed by City as $6,138.00 and authorizing setting aside tax revenues to create a sinking fund and to pay interest as it accrues on that part of debt assumed. Annexed property was put on city tax rolls for school purposes in 1924. Taxes. were allocated to French School bond Interest & Sinking funds for the first time on the 1925 levy for payment of sinking fund and interest due 4-10-25 and 4-10-26. Since French School District received no 1924 taxes from property annexed to Beaumont it seems fair for Beaumont to assume interest beginning 4-10-24. Interest beginning 4-10-24 was paid in March, 1926 with check for interest due 4-10-25 and 4-10-26 and totaling $939.34. Total interest payments made by City beginning with interest due 4-10-25 was (including payment on interest due 4-10-34) - 10 years @ 469.67 - $4,696.70. City by ratio of valuation :annexed 37.573% of all French District values and therefore assumed a like percentage of the NET DEBT and interest on the NET DEBT assumed.
