BE'° IT ORDAINED BY .THE CITY "COMMISSION. OF' THE' CITY OF
BEAUMONT
SECTION 1.

SECTION 2.
DEFINIVG ROOLLECTION -OF WATERn:
That the, e,ollection of -water to_ be' considered as coming
within the terms of this ordinance is :that which :i°s: contained or'
may hereafter be -contained in ditches, ponds, pool"excavations,
holes,- depressions, cesspools, privy vaults; fountains, ,basements,
_.cisterns, tanks;_ -shallow -wells, barrels, ; troughs' (exc3ept "horse
troughs- in .frequent:'use)`';r urns, cans'- boxes," "bottles, tubs; buckets, "
defective house, -roOf:gutters, tanks of "flash' closets, or other
similar water contaLhers.
SECTION 3,
METHOD OF '12REATYMT:
That tha- methods .of treatmeitb of any such collect ion of -Water
for the purpose of preventing the breeding of mosquitoes shall be.
one or more of the following, or any other effective method, the
method used in any case -to. be, first approved by the Director of
Sanitation:-:
(a) .Screening with wire netting of at least sixteen meshes
to the inch -one way or any other material which will
effectually prevent the ingress or egress of mos-
quitoes.
(b) Complete emptying every seven days of unsereened con-
tainers, together with their thorough'drying.or cleaning.
(c) using an approved larvicide.
(d) Covering completely the surface. of- the"'water with
kerosene, petroleum or paraffin oil once every .seven
days.•
(e) Cleaning and keeping sufficiently free of vegetable
growth and other obstructions, and -stocking with
mosquito destroying fish; absence of half-grown larvae
to be evidence of compliance with the measure.
(f) Filling or draining in accordance with the directions
of the Director of Sanitation of the City of Beaumont
or his duly authorized representative.
(g) groper destruction or disposal of tin cans, tin boxes,
broken or empty bottles and similar article=s likely
to.hold water.
SECTION 40
if any person responsible under the terms of this ordinance
for the existence of any condition herein prohibited which gives
rise to mosquitoe breeding refuses to take all necessary measures
directed by the Director of Sanitation of the City of Beaumont or
his duly authorized representative to' prevent the same in accordance
with the terms hereof within three days after notice , either verbal
or written, from the Director of Sanitation or his duly authorized
representative so to do, he shall be guilty of a misdemeanor a2f
subject to the penalty prescribed by Seetion.6 hereof, and each and
every -day s failure or refusal to remedy such condition after the
expiration of said time shall constitute a separate and distinct.
offense.
SBCTION 5•
INSPECTION:
1
The Director -of Sanitation of the City of Beaumont and those
working directly under his supervision shall enforce the provisions
of this ordinance and for this purpose may at all reasonable times
enter in and upon any premises within the CITY OF BEAUMONT vx-
