Long and Reliance Additions, closing and vacating streets and alleys in said additions and placing and vesting title to said streets and alleys clos6d and vacated in the Kirby Lumber Company. -'and approving plat of Kirby Addition to the City of Beaumont and accepting streets and alleys shown thereon, WHEREAS, an addition known as the T. S. Long Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, was heretofore dedicated and filed for record and became the T. S. Long Addition to the City of Beaumont, and shown thereon being certain streets and alleys dedieated to the public use and enjoyment and WHEREAS'; an addition knpwn as the Reliance Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, and sometimes called Wiess Addition, was dedicated and filed for record and became an addition to the. City of Beaumo.4t„ and shown thereon bbing certain streets and alleys dedicated to the public use and enjoyment; and WHEREAS, the Kirby Lumber Company, a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Texas, did by purchase acquire Blocks Nos. 3 and 5 of the said T. S. Long Addition and Blocks -Nos. 1, 29 39 5 and 5-a, and Lots 1 to 8 inclusive, and 12 to 14 inclusive, of Block No. 4 of the Reliance Addition; and WHERE -AS, the said blocks in said additions, together with acreage property adjacent thereto, have been for years until recently used by the Kirby Lumber Company, a corporation of Texas, for the purpose of operating thefeon a saw mill, dry kiln, lumber and storage yard; and WHEREAS, the said Kirby Lumber Company now desires to plat all of said property into an addition to be known as the Kirby Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Te:gas, and to conform same to the lots, blocks andstreets of adjacent additions to the City of Beaumont, and to so do it will become necessary to close and vacate alleys and streets now shown in that portion of the T. S. Long and Reliance Additions owned by them as hereinbefore set out; and WHEREAS, the said Kirby Lumber Company owns all of the said T. S. Long and Reliance Additions in which are located said alleys and streets to be closed and vacated; and no property owner will be damaged by the closing and vacating of same; but, to the contrary the opening of streets through said proposed addition will give to property owners adjacent to said proposed addition easier access to their property and will be of great benefit to the citizens of Beaumont generally in going to and from the different sections of the City; and WMEEAS, the plat of the proposed Kirby Addition, copy of wh.i.ch has been filed with the City conforms as near as practicable to the lots, blocks and streets of the adjacent property and additions to the City of Beaumont; therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMIS- ION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT. Section 1. That the proposed Kirby Addition to the City of Beaumont submitted for approval, a copy of the plat of same having been filed with the City 4141�9 be, and the same is hereby approved and adopted. Section 11. That Blocks Nos. 3 and 5 of the T. S. Long Addition and Blocks Nos. 1, 2, 39 5 and 5-a, and Sots Nos. 1 to 8 inclusive, a nd Lots Nos. 12 to 14 inclusive, be of Block No. 4 of the Reliance Addition and the same are hereby abolished and are not hereafter to be designated, known or shown on the map of the City of Beaumont. That the alley shown south of Blocks Nos. 3 and 5 of the T. S. Long Addition, and alley shown north of Blocks Nos. 19 29 5 and 5-a of the Reliance Addition and alley thru Block No. 3 of the Reliance Addition and alley running northwesterly and southeasterly thru Block No. 4 of the Reliance Addition be, and the same are hereby closed and vacated and title thereto placed and vested in the XJ;1j)y Lumber. Company, its successors or assigns, Section 111. That Cleveland Street, bhown running from Pearl Street to fine Street, between Blocks Nos. 1, 21 3 and 4 of the Reliance Addition be and the same is hereby closed and vacated, and title thereto placed and vested in the Uirby Lumber Company, its successors or assigns. Section Yl. That in consideration of the closing aad vacating of said alleys and streets as hereinbefore set out, the liirby Lumber Company will dedicate to the public use and enjoyment the streets and alleys shown on said proposed 'Kirby Addition and which are here now accepted by the City of Beaumont. Section V. All ordinances and parts of ordinancesin conflict with this ordinance are hereby expressly repealed. r Sect ion Vl . WHEREAS, an addition known as the T. S. Long Adi,itiou to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, was heretofore dedicated and filed for record and became the T. S. Long Addition to the City of Beaumont, and shown thereon being certain streets and alleys dedicated to the public use and enjoyment; and WHEREAS, an addition known as the Reliance Addition to the City of Boaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, and sometimes called.Wiese Addition, was dedicated and filed for-reoord and became an addition to the City of Beaumont, and shown thereon being certain streets and alleys dedicated to the public use and enjoyment; and WHORAS, the Kirby Lumber Company, a corpora- tion organised under the lave of the State of Texas, did by purchase acquire Blocks 3 and 5 of the paid T. S. Long Addition and'Blooke 1, 29 3, 5 and 5-a, and Lots 1 to 8 inclusive, and 12 to 14 inclusive, of Block 4 of the Reliance Addition; and WHEREAS, the said blocks in said additions, together with acreage property adjacent thereto, have been until recently dor years used by the Kirby Lumber Company, a corporation of Texas, for the purpose of operating a saw mill, dry kilm, lumber and siorage'yard thereon; and L t7EMEdS, the said Kirby Lumber Company now desires to plat all of said property into an addition to be known as the Kirby Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson Con..uty, Texas, and to conform same to the lots, blocks and streets of adjacent additions to the City of, Beaumont, and to so do it will become necessary to close and vacate alleys and streets now shown in that portion of the T. Long and Reliance Additions/which said alleys and streets to be closed and vacated are located; and no property owner will be damaged by the closing and vacating of same; but, to the contrary the opening of streets through said proposed addition will give to property owners adjacent to said proposed addition easier access to their property and will be of great benefit to the citizens of Beaumont generally in going to and from the different sections of the city; and 4MMI..EAS, the plat of the proposed Kirby Addition, copy of which has been filed with the City Secretary, eonforme as near as practicable to the lots, blocks and streets of the adjacent property and additions to the City of Beaumont; therefore;i4'te it ordained by the City Commission of the City of Beaumont. Section 1. That the proposed Kirby Addition to the City of Beaumont, a copy -of said plat of game having been filed with the City Secretary and submitted for approval, be, and the same is hereby approved and adopted. Section 11. That Blocks 3 and 5 of the T. S. Long Addition and Blocks 1, 29 39 6 and 5-a,and Lots 1 to 6 inclusive, and Lots 12 to 14 inclusive, be,and the same are hereby abolis#od and are not hereafter to be designated, lmown. Beaumont,Texas. Nov.7-1922. To the Honorable Mayor and City Commission, Beaumont, Texas. Gentlemen; - As you probably well know the undersigned, Kirby Lumber Company, are desirous of platting their property west of fine Street in the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, formerly,- occupied by their planer, dry kiln and lumber yard, into an addition to the City of Beaumont to be known as the"Kirby Addition'. We desire to state that we have had a competent engineer go on the ground and work out the most practicable plat possible under the existing condi- tions. In this connection we desire to state that included in the Kirby Addition would be a part of the T. S. Long Addition and also the Reliance Addition, heretofore platted and made a part of the City of Beaumont, the T. S. Long Addition consists of Blocks Nos. 3 and 5, having been platted and dedicated by Mrs. T. S. long on March 18th. 1892, and the Reliance Addition platted and set out in deed from the Reliance Lumber Company to the kirby Lumber Company of date January 6th. 1902. In this connection advise that we have by purchase acquired Blocks Nos. 3 and 5'of the T. S. Long Addition and all of the Reliance Addition with the exception of lots Nos. 9, 10 and 11 of Block No. 4, and Block No. 6, said B1oole.Noa.6 and 1 of the T. S. Long Addition not being included in the proposed Kirby Addition. If the proposed Kirby Addition is acceptable as an addition to the City it will be necessary for you to pass necessary resolutions and ordinances closing and abandoning certain alleys and streets in consideration of the opening of other streets to conform to the adjacent property. In this connection advise that no:- property owner;. would be depraved of any right or privilege but to the contrary will have greater facilities for ingress and egress than now exist. Thanking you to accept this proposed Addition to be known as the Kirby Addition to the City of Beaumont and upon the passage of -necessa- ry,.! resolutions and ordinances a plat, copy of which is hereto attached, will be filed in the County Clerk's office with appropriate dedication deed of the streets and alleys shown therein.
