Section. 1. -
That --Seotioii'�I. of an ordinance prohi biting any person --
-under the age of twenty-one years, or any student of any institution
of learning, from entering or remaining in any saloon, etc., which
was adopted June 20, 1916, and is -recorded>>on Page 393, Vol. 3,
Minutes (f Ordinances of the City Council, be, and the same is hereby,
amended so as to hereafter read as follows:
Section 1. � r-M.�,c
"That it shall be unlawful for anyn Nabi tual' drunkardi:.or
for any person under the age of twenty-one years or for any student
of any institution of learning to enter or remain in any.saloon,,
bar room or place of business where malt, vinous,. sptritous•or
other intoxicating liquours are sold in.quantities of less.than one
gallon, whi-eh may be drunk on the premises.
Section 2.
Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance
as amended shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and sha%l:,:upon,wconviation
in Corporation Court of the City -of Beaumonia, Texas;
be fined i sum not more. than two, -hundred dollars.
Seotion 3:
Whereas there is now no law to punish habitual drunkards,
aR n from going into a saloon and purchasing a drink, and
Whereas a penalty is needed to [tstrain such habitual
drunkards from entering saloons., bar rooms, etc.
`Therefore-, an imperative'mmergency and public necessity
is created, necessitating a suspension of the rule requiring ordin-
ances to be read at three regular meetings. Said ruld is therefore
suspended and this or;
shall go into full force and effect
from and after its la ssage,and adept &Qn.
