HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 60-BBAN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ORDERING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY•OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, ON THE 13TH DAY OF MAY,.1958, AS PROVIDED BY THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND FOUR COUNCfLMEN;_NAMING THE PLACES AT WHICH SAID ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; APPOINT- ING JUDGES TO PRESIDE OVER SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING. THE MANNER OF HOLDING SAID ELECTION, AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF. WHEREAS, under,the provisions of the City Charter of The City of Beaumont and the laws of the State of Texas relating there- to, a regular general municipal election is required to be held in The City of Beaumont on the second Tuesday of May, 1958, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and one Councilman from the First Ward, one Councilman from the Second Ward, one Councilman from the Third Ward, and one'Councilman from the Fourth Ward; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAVMONT, TEXAS: Section 1. That in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter of The City of Beaumont.and the laws of the State of Texas relating thereto, there shall be held in The City of Beaumont on the second Tuesday in May,' -1958, the same b6ing the 13th day of May, 1958, a regular minicipal election for said City for the purpose of electing a Mayor and one Councilman from the First Ward, one Councilman from the Second Ward, one Councilman from the Third Ward, and one council- man from the Fourth Ward, for said City. Section 2. That said election shall be held in The City of Beaumont at the following places, to wit: Edwards School Building; French School (Elementary) Build- ing; Longfellow School Building; Averill School Building; Junker School Building; Millard School Building; County Court House Building; Geo. W. Carver School Building; Magnolia School Building; Ogden School Building; David Crockett Jr. High School Building; Hebert School Building; Giles School Building; L.. R. Peitzsch School Building; Voth-Rosedale School Building; Amelia School Build- ing, and Tyrrell Park Recreation Building. That all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 1 and 2 shall vote at the Edwards School Building; that all.voters residing in County.Voting Precinct No. 3 shall vote at the French School (Elementary) Building; that.all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos.. 4 and 5 shall vote at the Longfellow School Building; that all voters residing in County.Voting Precincts Nos. 6 and 7 shall vote at'the.Averill School Building; that.all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. -8 shall vote at the Junker School Building;'that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 9 and 10 shall vote at the Millard.School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct- No..11,shall vote at the. .County Court House Building; that.all voters residing in County Vot- ing Precinct No. 12 -shall vote at the Geo.. W. Carver School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 13 shall vote at the Magnolia School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 14 shall vote at the.Ogden School Building;.that all voters residing in.County Voting Precincts Nos. 15, 16 and 17 shall vote at the David Crockett Jr. High School Building; thati-.'all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 18 shall vote at the Hebert School Building;'that all voters.residing in County Voting Pre- cinct No. 19 shall vote at the Giles School Building;.that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 20 and 21 shall vote at the L. R. Pietzsch School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts.Nos. 22 and 23,shall vote at the Voth-Rosedale School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 26 and 27 shall vote at the Amelia School Building; and that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 28 shall vote at., the Tyrrell Park Recreation Building. Section 3. The following named persons are appointedpresiding judges for their respective voting boxes, with the authority to select and -2- appoint their own clerks: Edwards School, Mrs. C. C. Moore French School (Elementary), Mrs. T. B. Hensley Longfellow School, Albert -Henry Averill School, D. N. Bodin Junke r School., Mrs. James E. Ray Millard School, Mrs. .Delia Harrington County Court House, Tobe Hahn Geo. W. Carver School, W. W. Como Magnolia School, E. A. Godwin Ogden School, 0. A. Ernest David Crockett Jr. High School, H. A. McDonald Hebert School, A. L. Price Giles School, Ray V. Watson L. R. Pietzsch School, Mrs. J. C. Burkhart Voth-Rosedale School, T. S. Webb Amelia School, Lawrence Hebert Tyrrell Park Recreation Building, Mrs. Celine (F. J`.) . Heiner. Section 4. That said election shall be held under, and the qualifica- tions of those voting thereat;l shall be controlled by the provisions of the State laws governing elections. Section 5. A copy of this ordinance, signed by the Mayor of The City of Beaumont and attested by the City Clerk thereof,'shall serve as proper and sufficient notice of said election; and the Mayor is here- by directed to cause a copy of, this ordinance, signed by himself and attested by the City Clerk, to be posted at each of the places herein designated for holding said electioni;i at least twenty '(20) days prior to the date of holding said election.
