PASSED by the City Council this 6th day of December, A. D. 1955. Mayor Pro Temp 1 TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF BEAUMONT. TEXAS The South Park Independent School District respectfully represents that it has purchased and acquired the title to Blbcks Nos. 7 and 8, of the Columbus :Cartwright Addition, and Block No. 20, of College Acres Extension, which property is bounded on the north by Milam Street, on the east by Seventh Street, on the south by Blanchette .Street, and on the west by Eighth Street. On this tract of land the South Park Inde- pendent School District is preparing to construct an elementary school building and lay out the playground and other facilities incident thereto. Upon the map of the Columbus :Cartwright Addition there appears a street 60 feet in width between Blocks Nos: 7 and 8, extending to Block No. 20 of College Acres Extension. This cul de sac serves no useful purpose, is not opened past Milam Street, and would be very trouble- some to the South Park Independent School District in the planning of improvements upon that tract of land. Since the South Park Independent School District has acquired title to the property on all sides of this stub of a street, and since it serves no useful public purpose, the South Park Independent School District respectfully petitions your honorable body to vacate, abandon, and close said stub of a street.
