AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY -OF BEATRAONT,
TEXAS, ACTING FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY TO
ENTER INTO ALL NECESSARY AGREEMENTS WITH THE
STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WELFARE RELATIVE TO
FEDERAL OLD -AGE AND SURVIVORS.INSURANCE BENEFITS
UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF APPLICABLE STATE AND -FED-
ERAL LAWS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO MAKE ASSESS-
MENTS, COLLECTIONS AND REPORTS;"AND ORDERING THE
ALLOCATION AND SETTING ASIDE OF SUFFICIENT MONEY
FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS'TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF,
.SAID LAWS, SUCH MONEY TO -BE SET ASIDE AND MAIN-
TAINED IN THE -REGULAR CITY DEPOSITORY AND TO BE
KNOWN AS "THE CITY. OF BEAUMONT SOCIAL SECURITY ,FUND."
WHEREAS, under -the provi-sions of (1) House Bill '6031 Acts
. 52nd.Leg., R.S.-.1951,- and (2) Public Law 7341 81st Congress, .ch.
809, 2d, H.Ri 6000, incorporated. cities of --this State may enter
into agreements with the Stat:e:-Department"..of:Public Welfare and
secure the benefits of-Federa1101d-Age and Survivbrs.Insurance, as
outlined in said laws; and
WHEREAS, it the opinion of'the City Council that the-ex-
tensi:on of this Old -Age and Survivors.Insuranc'e System will be of
great benefit not only .,to -the -employees, of the, municipality but to
the municipality by attracting to it and�,enabling it -to retain the
best of personnel and -thus increase theefficiency of its go'vern
meat; and it is deemed that the payment. -by the municipality of its
portion of the cost of said system is.a payment for municipal'pur-
poses; and
WHEREAS, it is..the desire of the City Council to authorize
the making of.any'and,all-necessary agreements in order,to secure
the.benefits of said acts;
NOW,.THEREFORE,.BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,,
TEXAS.:
1., That Elmo R. Beard,Mayor, be, and he is hereby, author-
ized, acting for and on behalf.of The City of.Beaumont, to enter
into all necessary agreements and to -execute all necessary instru-
ments with.the State Department'of Public Welfare.for-the purpose
