EXPLANATORY CLAUSE. Nothing in this ordinance except
as herein specifically set out shall be construed to repeal,
amend, or in any wise affect any ordinances now in effect
within the corporate limits of the City of Beaumont affect-
ing or applying to the installation, maintenance, operation
or location of stop signs within the City limits of the City
of Beaumont, but the purpose and intention of the City Com-
mission by this ordinance is to officially designate the street
upon and street intersection near which these stop signs shall
be located.
Section 3.
REPEALING CLAUSE. The ordinance heretofore enacted by
the City Commission of the City of Beaumont on December 1,
A. D. 1936, providing for the installation, erection, Mainten-
ance and location of stop signs for the regulation of traffic
at certain street intersections within the corporate limits
of the City of Beaumont and declaring an emergency is hereby
expressly repealed.
Section 4.
EMERGENCY CLAUSE. The fact that numerous occasions have
heretofore arisen in the Corporation Court in the City of
Beaumont and in the County Court of Jefferson County at Law,
Jefferson County, Texas, on appeal wherein the question as
to the legality of the delegation of authority to the Chief

ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its lawful
