AN ORDINANCE
ACCEPTING AND APPROVING A MAP AND PLAT
REPLATTING HIGHLAND HEIGHTS IDDITION TO THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT BY' THE OWNER THEREOF, H. H.
HOWELL, AND ACCEPTING THE STREETS,. ALLEYS AND,
EAS--EEMTS IN SAID ADDITION, AS SHOWN IN THE RE-;-
PLAT
.E-PLAT THEREOF, CLOSING AND ELIMINATING THAT PART
OF BLODGETT STREET SHOWN ITS THE ORIGINAL PLAT OF
SAID ADDITION AS EXTENDING BETWEEN THE NORTH
LINE OF iEAST PIPKIN STREET AND THE SOUTH LI11TE
OF,EAST CHURCH STREET, .AND'ELIMINATING CERTAIN
ALLEYS AS SHOWN BY THE ORIGINAL MAP.OR PLAT OF
SAID ADDITION.
WHEREAS, H. H. Howell is the owner of Highland Heights
Addition, and .is .anxious to develop the said addition -,into a
residential addition to the' City of Beaumont, and in order to
accomplish this purpose it is necessary that the said addition
be replatted so that certain lots in said addition will -abut
and face the principal streets running through the same; and
further , that cert ain� alleys , as shown on the original plat of
the said addition, be closed and vacated, and that part of
Blodgett Street, .between the north line of ;,East - Pipkin Street
and the south line of East Church Street, as .shown on the
original map of said addition, should be vacated; closed, and
that the streets, alleys and easements shown on the map re -
platting said addition, should be dedicated to the use of the
general public as such and should be accepted by the City Com-
mission for said purposes; and

WHEREAS, said A.- H. Howell, who is the owner of
all lots and blocks in said addition affected by the said
change, has signed a petition to the City Commission requesting
the said change and has presented for approval a replat of
said addition and requested that the City Commission approve
the said replat, and has dedicated to the City of Beaumont and
to the use of the general public, the streets, alleys and ease-
ments shown on the said replat of said addition;,and
WHEREAS, the said addition as replatted conforms
with all the requirements of the City of Beaumont and should be
accepted, approved and adopted by the dity Commission.
liovi, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY COMMISSION
OF
THE CITY
OF
BEAUM OiVT:
That the alleys,
as
shown in
the
original plat
of Highland Heights Addition, which run through Blocks 2, 3,
4, 7 and 8 in the original addition, be vacated and closed and
the title to the alleys which formerly existed in the said
blocks shall revert to and bedome the property of the owner of
the, land in the blocks bordering on said alley;
That -Blodgett Street, between `the north line of
East Pipkin Street and the south line of East Church Street,
as shown on the original plat 'of said addition, be, and the
same is hereby, vacated, abandoned and closed, and the title
to the said portion of the said street dhal:l,:'reVert`i-to and
become the'property of the lot owner adjacent thereto, as now
provided by law.
The replat of Highland Heights Addition, which
has been prepared under the direction of H. H. Howell; the
owner of the said addition, and which the said owner has ex-
ecuted in the form and manner required by':law, and which the
said owner has requested the City Commission to accept and
approve, is hereby in all things accepted.and approved by the
City Commission, and the streets, alleys and easements -delineated
and shown on said replat of.the Highland Heights Addition, are
hereby accepted by the City of Beannont.

WE, the undersigned, being the sole owners of all the
property located in B1ock62 of the
Addition to the City of Beaumont, hereby respectfully petition
that the alleyslocated in Blocks L-9,
Addition be closed in the manner as permitted by the statutes
of the State of Teras, and that such alley become the absolute
property of the owners of the. land in said block adjacent and
abutting on such alley, it being understood, however, that the
closing of this alley shall in no way affect the rights of the
City as to placing and maintaining therein of any sewer or
water lines, or telephone, telegraph, or electric lines, wires,
poles, or cables or any other service or utility of the City,
or the right of the City to grant franchises to persons or
corporations to place end maintain therein any such sewer or
water line, 'or telephone, telegraph, or electric lines, wires,
poles, or cables, or any other service or utility of the, City.
