AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND CLOSING OF AN
ALLEY.THROUGH BLOCK EIGHT (8) OF THE JARRETT
ADDITION TO THE_CITY OF BEAUMONT,.EXCEPT FOR A
FIVE.('5) FOOT EASEMENT FOR UTILITY PURPOSES
WHICH IS RESERVED ON THE REAR.OR.SOUTH FIVE (5)
FEET OF LOTS .ONE (1) , TWO K2), THREE .(3) FOUR .
(4) AND FIVE (5) OF SAID BLOCK EIGHT (8j, ANDA
FIVE (5) FOOT EASEMENT FOR UTILITY PURPOSES ON
THE REAR OR WEST FIVE (5) FEET OF LOTS SIX (6),SEVEN
(7) AND EIGHT (8) OF SAID BLOCK.
WHEREAS, a petition duly signed by D. 'M. English,�ownerS
of all the property. located in Block Eight (8) of the Jarrett
Ad.ditlon. to the City of Beaumont abutting on said alley has been
presented to the City Commission of the City of Beaumont, request-
ing that said alley be vacated and closed and that an easement
for utility purposes P ur oses be im osed on the rear or South Five (5)
feet of Lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, of said Block, and also a Five
(5) foot easement for utility purposes be imposed.on the rear
or West Five (5) feet of Lots 6,7, and 8 of said Block, and that
a corrected map or plat of the said Block be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF. THE CITY OF BEAUMONT :
That the alley located in Block Eight (8) of the Jarrett
Addition to the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby auth-
orized to be vacated and closed and that the title to such alley
shall revert to and become the property of the owner,5of the land
in said block bordering on said alley, as provided by law; pro-
vided, however,_ that there .is hereby imposed a five (5) foot
easement for utility purposes on the rear or South five (5)
feet of lots 1, 2, 39 4 and 5 of said Block, and also there is
hereby imposed a five (5) foot easement for utility purposes
along the rear or West five (5),feet of Lots 6,7, and 8 in said
Block, and the City of Beaumont hereby retains the right to

place and maintain in and along the said easement any. sewer or
water lines, or telephone, telegraph or electric lines, wires,
poles or cables, or any.other service or utility of the City;
and the City of Beaumont reserves the right to, grant a franchise
to any persons, firms or corporations to place and maintain there-
on such sewers or water lines, or telephone, telegraph or electric
lines, wires, poles or cables or any other utility. The amended
. replatting of the said block showing said easement so laid out
by the owner5is hereby accepted by the City Commission.

of the City of Beaumont for authority. to close the alley
running through said block and to have the 'City Commission
of the City of Beaumont accept in lieu of said alley a
five (5) foot easement for utility purposes along the rear
or South five (5) feet of lots 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in said
block; and also, a five (5) foot easement for utility pur-
poses along the, rear or West five (5) feet of lots 6, -7, and
8, in said Block. An amended replatting of said Block is
hereby attached to this petition showing the proposed utility
easement and the petitioner hereby requests the City.Commission
to accept and approve said amended replatting of said Block.

Addition to the City of Beaumont, hereby r spectfully petition
that the alley located in Block,
Addition be closed in the manner as permit ed by the statutes
of the State of Texas, and that such alley become the absolute
property of the owners of the land in said block adjacent and
abutting on such alley, it being understood., however, that the,.
closing of this alley shall in no way affect the rights of -the
City as to placing and maintaining therein of any sewer .or
water lines, or telephone, telegraph, or electric lines, wires,,

poles, or cables or any other service or utility of the City, -
or the right of. the City to grant franchises to persons or
corporations to place and maintain therein any such sewer or

ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS. .
WHEREAS, a petition duly signed by D. M. English,
owner of all the property located in Block Eight (8)
of the Jarrett Addition to the City of Beaumont, abut-
