AND OTHER TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1940 FOR TRE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING A SINKING FUND TO MEET THE PAYMENT OF ALL'BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, AND THE PAYMENT OF ACCRU- ING INTEREST THEREON- PROVIDING FOR THE SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE OF -TRE CITY OF BEAUMONT PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS; TO PAY THE EXPENSE OF THE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT, A.S:,NAMED IN SAID ORDINANCE,. AND THE GENERAL EXPENSE OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT; AND APPORTIONING THE TAXES TO BE LEVIED TO SUCH DEPARTMENTS AND PUR- POSES AS SET FORTH'IN SAID ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF OCCUPATION TAX; .AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1 That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for the year 1940, for municipal purposes only, an ad valorem tax of One.and 73/1.00 Dollars ($1.73) on each.. One Hundred Dollars . worth of property located within the present`' city limits of the City of Beaumont, made taxable by . law, whiciY� r _ said taxes when collected shall be, according to Section 16 of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, apportioned among the'funds and departments of the city government of the City of Beaumont and for .the purposes hereinafter set forth as follows, to -wit: For the General Fund' .95 For the support and maintenance of Public Library - -007- For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund: for the -payment of the entire bonded indebtedness of . the City of Beaumont for all purpos.es,,except the school bonded indebtedness of the Beaumont City Schools .69 For the purpose of paying -the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said.indebtedness when due bite incurred in the issuance' of Library Purchase Notes --Series "A" .0010 . For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and.to provide a sinking fund to -retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Promissory Notes-- Series "B" .0015 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest to provide -a -sinking -fund- ,and to"retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Promissory Notes - Series "CTM .0010 For the purpose of. paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of street Improvement Promissozy Notes - Series "D" .0050. E v f T 0 -2,v-Igy6 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Notes - Houston Construction Company .0040 For the purpose of providing a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred under contract with the Petroleum Iron Works dated March 31, 1931 .0015 Section 2 That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for the year 1940, a school maintenance tax of Fifty-three Cents (53¢) on each One Hundred Dollars worth of property lying and being situated within the present limits of the Beaumont Independent School District; and there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for the year 19.0, a tax of Twenty-four Cents (2/+0) on each One Hundred Dollars worth of said property to take care of the interest and sinking fund on the school bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont within the present -limits of the'Beaumont Independent School District. Section 3 That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall be collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupa- tion tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one-half of the amount so levied by the State of Texas, on each respective occupation or calling in the City of Beaumont. Section 4 There being no Ordinance in effect levying the taxes for the year 1940, and the taxes for said year will soon become due and payable, an immediate public emergency exists, necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three separate days before passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and it is enacted that this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its, passage and publication. Mayor. - fir(, /3A AN ORDINANCE APPORTIONING A TAX OF SIXTY-NINE CENTS (;x.69) ON EACH ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS VALUATION OF.ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE PRESENT LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEAS, AND A TAX OF TWENTY- FOUR CENTS ( $.24) ON EACH ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS VALUATION OF ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE PRESENT LIMITS OF THE BEAUMONT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, LEVIED AND ORDERED COLLECTED BY AN ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON THE 20th DAY OF AUGUST, A. D. 1910, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE INTEREST AND CREATING A. SINKING FUND FOR THE BOND ACCOUNTS THEREIN MENTIONED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE. CITY COMaSSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1 That the tax of Sixty-nine Cents ($.69) on each one hundred dollars valuation of all taxable property within the limits of the City of Beaumont heretofore levied for interest and sinking fund accounts, other than school bond accounts, and ordered collected by an Ordinance passed by the City Commission of the City of Beaumont on the 20th day Of August,,1940, be and the same is hereby appor- tioned among the various interest and sinking funds as follows: To the interest and sinking fund of Airport Bonds #l,. dated July 1,-1929 - Nine Mills 0.0090). To the interest and sinking fund of Airport Bonds ,42, dated December 1, 1939 - Two Cents and Six Mills 0.0260). To the interest and sinking fund of Assembly Hall Bonds #l, dated December 1, 1939 - Seven Mills ($.0070). To the interest and sinking fund of City Hall Bonds #1, dated December 1, 1902 - One Mill ($.0010). To the interest and sinking fund of City Hall & Auditorium Bonds #1, dated December 1, 1926 - Two Cents and Eight Mills ($.0280). D. 1940, be and the same is hereby apportioned among the various school bond interest and sinking funds \ as follows: To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building Bonds #2, dated December 1, 1902 - Two Mills ($.0020). To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building Bonds #6, dated November 1, 1916 - One Cent and Eight Mills ($.0180). To the interest and sinking fund of School Bonds 1922, dated October 1, 1922 - Four Cents and Two Mills ($.0420), To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building & Repair Bonds #7, dated May 1, 1924 - One Cent and Five -tenths Mills ($.0105). To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building Bonds #8, dated Beptember 1, 1924 - One Mill ($.0010). To the interest and sinking fund of School Bonds Series A, dated May 1, 1928 - Nine Cents and Sias Mills ($.0960). To the interest and sinking fund of School Bonds Series B. dated May 11 1928 - Sig Cents and Two Mills ($.0620). To the interest and sinking fund of French School Bonds, dated April 10, 1912 - One and Five -tenths Mills (*-0015). To the interest and sinking Fund of School Refunding Bonds Series A, dated Junel, 1935 - Seven Mills ($.0070). Section 3 That the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed to pro -rate the said sums so assessed according to the provisions of this Ordinance, and to so present his statement and report to the Director of Finance that said officer may be able to place all collections made under said tax to the credit of the proper fund, and that the same may not be diverted or used for any other purpose. Section 4 The fact that no apportionment has been made of the assess- ments levied to provide for the interest and sinking fund for the bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, creates an imperative public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three separate meetings before their passage, wherefore,,said rule is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and -after its passage and publication.
