HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 84-AAN ORD I N ANC E. W Entitled an Ordinance amending Articles 698 and 699 of Chapter 36 of the revised code of Ordinances as codified by Messrs. McDowell and Davidson and adopted by the City Council of the City of Beaumont, February 7th, 1911. BEAUMONT : SECTION I. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF. That Articles 698 and 699 of Chapter 36 of the Revised Code of Ordinances as codified by Messrs. McDowell and Davidson, adopted by the City Council of the City of Beaumont, February 7th, 1911, Abe amended so as to hereafter read as follows: ARTICLE 698: It shall be _unlawful for any locomotive engineer, fire- man, foremen, switchman, yardmaster, conductor or any other agent or employee for the railroad company operating or participating in any manner in the _operation, control or management of 6.hy, locomotice or switch engine or other train or engine of whatever character to switch freight cars on any railway_in the City of Beaumont, at any point east of the west line of Orleans street and south of the notth, line of College street, at its intersection with Railroad avenue. Switching in this article shall be construed to mean the pulling or backing across, or the booking across and pulling up of any freight car or cars across the west line of Orleatms street or across the north line of College street at its intersection with Railroad Avenixe. And it shall be unlawful for any person mentioned. in this article, in the management or control of such trains as aforesaid., to make up the:L_t said trains and shift and switch freight cars in the preparation and making up of such trains at any point on their line east of the west line of Orleans street or south of the BEAMTONT : SECTION I. ARTICLE 699. Any person, or persons, agents or employees, of any railway company, who shall violate or refuse to comply with any of the provisions contained in this atticle shall be fined in any sum not exceeding two hundred dollars. SECTION II. On account of the inconvenience and danger attaching to switching across the streets above referred to creates an emergency for the passage of this Ordinance, The rule requiring Ordinances to be read at three separate meetings be and the same is hereby suspended and this Ordinance is to be in full force and effect from ena after its passage and lawfu�ublic," PASSED THIS Sitt day of d=z;a;fr A.D.1913.
