AN ORDINANCE.

Entitled an ordinance amending Article
487, Chapter 33, of the Revised Code of Ordinances
BE 1T ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAIJMONT :
Section 1.
That Article 487, Chapter 33, of the Revised
Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be amended so
that it shall hereafter read as follows:
Article 487. .The frame work of awnings attached
to buildings shall be of sufficient size to rigidly and
safely carry all weight of said awnings. The covering
shall be either f slate, tin, zinc, copper, wire glass,
iron, gravel or other equally fire proof material.
Provided, teat this article is not intended to prevent the
construction of what are generally known as canvas:: awning
but when canvas awnings are,constructe'd, the frame work
shall be of metal, and the awning so constructed that it
may be raised .and lowered.
When awnings are attached to buildings and sup --
ported independently of the street, the supporting
chains. -or rods shall be securely bolted through the wall.
Section 2.
P11 ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3.
This ordinance shall go into effect from and
after its passage, approval by the Mayor andlbwful publi-
cation.
