HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 36-AAN ORDINANCE Entitled. an Ordinance amending rule 3, Art. -1 - of the Revised Code of Ordinances ' of the -City of Beaumont as codified by Messrs -McDowell & Davidson ___and adopted, -by_ the-- City Cumpil_-of Beaumont Feb. 7th.. 1911, by adding sub -section 9, creating; a committee on taxation; declaring an emergency.. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT Section -1- That rule 3, of Art. -l- of the Revised Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, codified by Messrs -McDowell & Davidson, and adopted by the City Council Feb -7th. 1911, be amended by adding to same sub -section 9 to Lead as follow ,S:- " -9- A Committee on taxation to be composed of the Mayor, City Tax Assessor & Collector ,and City Attorney, whose duty it shall be to -take cognizance of all subjects referred- o them relating to: taxation,and -to .investigate, adjust and adjudicate all claims relating to errors in assessments, wrongful assessments and errors in the tax.' rolls." Section -2- The fact that a great amount of clerical work an investigation is necessary to clear up the delinquent taxes, errors and. erroneous assessments,and that such work should be done immediately _so as to d.o away with most of the errors in the tax rolls and correct same creates an imperative necessity and public emergency necessitating that the rules be suspended and this Ordinance be -passed.
