AN 0 R D I N A N C E.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE OWNER OR OWNERS
OF PROPERTY ABUTTING UPON ANY STREET, AVENUE, PUBLIC ALLEY,
PLACE OR SQUARE OR PART OR SECTION THEREOF , AL OI\TG WHICH
SIDEWALKS HAVE BEEN ORDERED TO BE CONSTRUCTED, RECONSTRUCT}
ED OR REPAIRED , BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEJU MONT ,
to construct, reconstruct or repair same, at his or their
own cost and expanse, except the cost of excavation and
grading;, which cost shell b,e borne by the City, within 30
days after notice of same has been published in a daily
newspaper, for five consecutive days; of general circulation
within the City of Beaumont, defining the term sidewalks, and
providing a penalty for the violation thereof.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
SECTION I.
It shall be t,#e duty of the owner or owners of
propert y abutting upon any street, a venue , piZ-blit alley, place
or square or part or eection thereof, along which sid-ewalks
have been ordered to be constructed, reconstructed or repair-
ed by the City Council of the City of Beaumont, to construct
reconstruct or repair same at his or their own cost and
expense, except the cost of excavation and grading which
cost shall be borne by the City, within 30 days after notice
of same has been published in a daily newspaper for five
consecutive days of general circulation within the City of
Beaumont.

SECTION II. i
The term sidewalk as embraced in this ordinance
shall h1so include curbs.

SECTION III.
Any person or persons violating the provisions
of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction thereof in the Corporation Court, be
fined in any sum not exceeding one -hundred ( 4100.00)
dollars w -d provided that each day said owner or owners
shallneglect to construct, reconstruct or repair said
sideival'�:s after said 30 days, shall be and constitute a
separate offense
SECTION IV.
Whereas at present there is no adequate criminal
ordinances covering the offense of failure to construct,
reconstruct orrnpair sidewalks after receiving the
proper notice, creates an emergency and an imperative
public necessity, so that the rule requiring ordinances
to be read at three separate meetings be and it is. hereby
suspended and this ordinance shall go -into effect from
and after its passage and lawful publication.
