HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 5-A9 AN ORDINANCE Entitled an ordinance amending Article 387, relative to.the Collection of taxds, of the Revised Code of Ordinancea as codified by Messrs-ldcDowell & Davidson of date Sd-e-r�7th, 1911, and declaring an emergency. BE .IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCTI, OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: SECTION I. That Article 387 of the Revised Code or Ordinances of the City of' Beaumont as codified by Iuessrs-11cDowell &: Davidson, be amended so that it shall hereafter read as follows: "Article 387 -Collection of Taxes" " Section 1. It shall be the duty of the Assessor and Collector and Board of Appraisement to have said assessment rolls hereinbefore described fully prepared and completed by -the first day of October of each and every year; and all taxes shall be due and payable on or after the first day of October of each and every year, and if not paid by January 31st of the succeeding year, there shall be addedd, penalty ten per cent upon the amount of such taxes, // . and should the same not be paid by '11arch 1st of the year succeeding the levy, said taxes and penalty shall thereafter bear interest at the rate of six per cent per annum until paid. And it sh&11 be the duty of all persons froi,.t whom such taxes are due to call and pay same to said Assessor and Collector at his office in the City of Beaumont hetween the first day of October and the 31st day of January of the year succeeding the levy. "Section 2. Said assessor and Collector shall be provided by the city with necessary printed blank receipt books ,.Said receipts to be made in triplicate and numbered consecutively from I up, corresponding with the renditionsas appears on the Tax Rolls. The original receipt shall be delivered to the person paying the tax, the duplicate to be detached and accompany the monthly report of said ('ollecti6h.)to the City Council and the triplicate receipt to remain in the book as a permanent record of �hiis office . t' "Section 3. All sums of money received in payment of taxes shall be accredited when received on some particular taact of land or parcel of pi,operty: and no money in payment of taxes shall be received on account." SECTIOY II. All ordinances or paxts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION III.
