PROVIDING for the levy, assessing and collecting of taxes for the 1910 for the purpose of providing a sinking fund to meet the paymetlt of the oOtstanding Bonded Indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, and to pay.the accruing interest thereon; to provide for the support of the Public Schools of the City; to repair and improve the streets, alleys, and public squares, to meet the current expenses of the City of Beau- mont, to provide for the purchasing, construction, maintaining, opera- ting, and owning of public parks; to tax occupations and callings made taxable by law; to'col-lect a poll tax on all able bodied male citizens over 21 and under 60 years of age. BE IT ORDAINED BY -THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT. Section 1. That there is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collectdd for the year 1910 the following taxes on all property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Beaumont,Texas, made taxable by law, to-wit,.,- For o-wit:- For the purpose of paying General Current Expenses of the city %overnment, and for General Purposes, Forty (40) Cents of Each One Hun- dred ($100.00) Dollars Valuation. For the support and maintainence of the Public Free Schools, Twenty Five (25) Cents on each One Hundred'($M00.00) Valuation. For the purpose of reapiring and maintaining the streets, alleys, public squares, and bridges of the City, Thirty (30) Cents on each One Hundred -($100.00) Valuation. For the purpose of paying the accruing interest, and to pro- vide a Sinking Fund for theayment'of the outstanding bonded Indebted- ness of the City, Fifty Two (p52) Cents on each One Hundred ($100.00) -..-_Dollar-s Valuation. --- --- - -- - -- For the purchasing, construction, maintenance, and operating of public parka either inside or outs'de of the City of Beaumont, Three-(3),Cents on each One Hundred (100.00) Dollars Valuation. Section 2. That there is hereby levaied and shall be colbected on all occupations and callings of which kkamaxim an 8ccupation Tax is levied by the State of Texas Nx a sum equal to one half of the amount so levied by the State of Texas on each respective occupation or calling. Section 3. That there is hereby levied and shall be collected a poll tax of One Dollar($1.00) from each and vuvyY able bodied male citizen of this city between the ages of 21 and 60 years, excepting and exempting heretofrom those who may be exempt from the payment of such tax by the Constitution and Laws of the State of Texas- Section- 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage, its approval by the Mayor and publication.
