Entitled an Ordinance to require Steam Railway Companies
and .Street Ra.ilaay Companies to place Electric lights over and
across the streeto in the City of Beaumont when required to do
so by the City Council, and providing a penalty for failure to
comply with said Ordinance, and requiring Steam Railway Companies
and Street Railviay Companies to properly drain the streets overwhich
their lines are constructed, and requiring Steam Rai1aay Companies
and Street Railway Companies to keep the streets overwhich their
lines are constructed in E;ood repair and to heep the brides in
repair, ,,hen required to do so by the Street L Bridge Committee,
and- after receivinL notice from the city Council and i)lans and
specifications for said improvements, and providing a penaltyfor failure to do so.

duty of each Stearn Rail';Vay Comlani, wand each Stroet Railway Company
operating trains or cars within the Cit-, of caur,ant, over and across
the streets in said Oity, to iiijiminato such streets, at such points
and }daces thereon as shall be deriL,,,noted. by the Cite Council, of said
City, ,'ihenever said City Cov_neil shall by resolution reciuiresuch
illumination. The lights therofor shall not be lass candle power than
the arc lights now in use by the City for general street livhts.

of.r.eaiunont, to make, construct and maintain under the
supervision of the street co, Bridge Committee, and in accordance
with the plans and specifications to be furnished by the City
Engineer, all such drainR , culverts, ,Ira.t er%7ays, ditches, es, .and such
other connections as shall be deemed necessary by the said
Committee, to•properly drain the streets through or over which
said rail,,riay line may be constructed, and to conduct the crater
outside the City Limits.

be the duty of each railroad company, whose lines of road are
constructed, or may hereafter be constructed within the corporate
limits of the City of Beaumont, to ,gut in good repair and
maintain in good condition, all streets or parts of streets
throuvh or over which tYieir lines of road may ruri, and to heel)
the same free -from obstruction of every bind, which said re-

the same free from obstruction of every bind, which said repairs

corporate limits of the City, such plans and specifications, w1len
so prepared shall be submitted to the City Co1nleit together. with a
Resolution declaring such improvements to be necessary, and
directing; that such. Person or corporation be notified to construct
the` same without delay, and said plans and specifications shall be

filed in the office of the City Secretary.
Section 7: 70TICE -TO BE GIVEN ATTER SAID PLANS AND
SPECIFICAT'I0 S SHALT HAVE BEET APPROVED BY 7HE CITY COUTTCII AND
THE SAID RES07UTIOX PASSED ---it shall be the duty of the Hayor
to cause to be notified such person or persons, by written notice
to begin such improvements within ten days from 5e vice of such
notice. Said -notice shall be accompanied by copy of said
Resolution and contain a reference to said specifications filed,
as aforesaid, and the Bailie shall be authenticated by the certificate
of the City Secretary, and in case of a corporation, said notice
shah_ be delivered to its chief -officer or agent residing in the
City of Beaumont.
