ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 11 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, BY
ADOPTING NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE OF 1968 IN
SECTION 11-35(b); PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
1.
That Section 11-35(b) of the Code of Ordinances of
Beaumont, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(b) Conformity of electrical installations
with -the applicable standards set forth in the
National Electrical Code shall be prima facie
evidence that such installations are reason-
ably safe to persons and property; provided.that
the provisions of this chapter shall prevail
over the National Electrical Code in case of con-
flicting provisions. The National Electrical
Code of 1968, adopted by the National Fire Pro-
tection Association, and all amendments thereof,
is hereby adopted, and the same is hereby made
a part of this chapter as fully and to the
extent as if copied herein in full. One copy
of such Code has been and now is filed in -the
office of the City Clerk."

If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular
set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held
invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining
portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various pro-
visions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.

That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
4.
Any person who violates or fails to comply with any
provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished
as provided for in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of
Beaumont, Texas.
