HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 70-54ORDINANCE NO. 70-54 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 37, SECTION 37-58 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: ESTABLI'SHING.PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS UPON CERTAIN STREETS, HIGHWAYS OR PORTIONS OF STREETS AND HIGHWAYS WHEN SIGNS ARE ERECTED GI:VI:NG NOTICE THEREOF: BY' CHANGING PORTIONS OF SPUR'380 (PORT ARTHUR ROAD) HIGHWAY' 124 (FANNETT ROAD), AND HI:GHWAY'105, TO THE "SCHEDULE" OF SPEED LIMIT REGULATIONS OF SECTION 37-58; PROVIDING A PENALTY', PROVIDING FOR SEVERABI'LITY': AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH:. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: 1. That Section 37-'58 of the Code of Ordianaces of Beaumont, Texas, is hereby amended to read as. follows: Street Sec.'37=58. Same - Changed in certain zones. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the speed permitted by,state law upon the streets, or portions thereof described in the.schedule below is greater in some castes, and less in some cases than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets or portions thereof, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit upon those streets or portions thereof des-cribed-in the schedule below shall be as therein stated, when signsare erected giving notice thereof.
