ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS,
SECTION 12-35 THEREOF, BY ADDING A NEW' CLASS
ENTITLED "TRAFFIC CONTROL MAINTENANCE FOREMAN"
TO THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN INCORPO-
RATED BY REFERENCE IN SAID SECTION 12-35;
PROVIDING THAT SAID NEW CLASS AND ITS CORRES-
FONDI-NG "-CLASS SPECIFICATION" 'IS TO BE IN-
CLUDED IN THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN
ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
I.
That the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, is
hereby amended by adding to the position classification plan
incorporated by reference in Chapter 12, Section 12-35 of the
said Code, the following new class and its corresponding class
specification:
TRAFFIC CONTROL MAINTENANCE FOREMAN
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This position is responsible for the instal-
lation and maintenance .of all non -electrical
traffic control devices. An employee in this
class is responsible for assigning duties and
inspecting the work of skilled workers. He
performs personally some of the more difficult
maintenance tasks and equipment modifications.
Assignments are made in the fDrm of oral and
written instructions and may be accompanied
by sketches and blue prints. Work is re-
viewed by the Operations Superintendent.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Thorough knowledge of the standard practices,
materials and tools that are required in the
installation and maintenance of traffic con-
trol devices for streets and highways; ability
tolayout, assign and supervise the work of
others and to make accurate estimates of time
and- m:aterials`-need'ed --for, ` iis'tal1at'ibn', and n�
tenance and modification of traffic control
devices; ability to prepare reports.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from a standard high school and
considerable experience in mechanical main-
tenance work and in the fabrication and
modification of materials and equipment
utilized in traffic control systems.

That the said new class and its corresponding class
specification be added to the "Schematic List of Classes" and
the "Class Specifications" of the position classification plan
on file in the office of the City Clerk, and the said new class
shall be incorporated by reference into Section 12-35 of the
Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, and the position classi-
fication plan adopted in said Section 12-35, as fully and com-
pletely as though copied verbatim therein.
